Orient Beach State Park is a beautiful and spacious park with a nice, clean beach. The beach area is sandy and pebbly with calm waters for swimming, although no swimming is allowed on some parts. The park offers much more than the beach, with really spectacular wetlands perfect for bird watching. Visitors can see an osprey nest on a platform. The park provides many picnic tables, grills, and beachfront areas. Amenities include a snack bar or food shack, a souvenir stand, and bathrooms with showers and changing rooms, at least in the summer months. Kayak rentals are also available. There is a per car entry fee, or free entry with an Empire pass. The location is pretty far out on the island, not far from the ferry to New London, CT. The parking is small, so an early arrival is recommended. It is a great place to walk, collect sea shells, and have a nice time with family and friends while respecting the wildlife. It is definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful tiny state park on the eastern top of the north fork, great views of Gardiner Island and Plum island.

Surprisingly quiet for a state park. A very scenic, clean beach where you can view a whole array of coastal wildlife. If you're lucky you can even spot an albatross. It's a decent spot for paddle boarding and kayaking. Be careful of slippery rocks, though.
