“Adirondacks: more than just chairs! All up and down the big mountain and up and down the smaller mountain we talked of going to Stewballs to get some soda and pizza. We made it and it is great Stewballs action here! We got very good pizza the man who sings of soda got chimken pizza even though it costs a few football fields but he may get a different flavor of pizza next time. He got chewbacca too just goes to show it’s a dawg eat dog world be safe out there I felt safe because this beautiful town with the nice buildings has troops all over and they care about them. I got a fritter at Stewballs that was fall off the bone tender. I thought of doing a crime to put chocolate syrup in my coffee but I am no criminal especially in front of god and troops. We peelt out listening to Glen Campbell because that’s what we’re about. The soda singer wanted coffee only after we left even though he didn’t choose to pour himself any so I shared for Bernie. When you step out into the Adirondack sunshine, Stewballs will also offer you free air as well all you CCCan eat. Please be careful out there, no rest until Hudson is in Maine!”

“Five-Eleven Deli Mart operates on the classic small-town principle of “we’re the only option, so deal with it.” Everything in the store is overpriced, from snacks to basic groceries, but hey, when the nearest alternative is 10-15 miles away, they can get away with it. The pizza? Surprisingly okay—not amazing, not terrible, but perfectly mid in a way that actually works when you realize it’s the only pizza option in town. If you’re desperate for a slice and don’t feel like making a drive, this is where you end up, and honestly, it gets the job done.

The owners and staff? Nice people, genuinely friendly, and you can tell they care about the place. The problem is, that care doesn’t always extend to cleanliness or checking expiration dates. You’ll occasionally find something on the shelf that looks like it’s been waiting for a buyer since the Obama administration, and the general level of upkeep leaves a bit to be desired.

Still, for what it is—a small-town convenience store that also happens to sling some decent pizza—it’s fine. Just don’t go in expecting a bargain, a deep clean, or the freshest selection of anything.”
