There are a ton of hidden gems in Potsdam, and our public library is one of them. It’s a community center really. I am always enamored at the events they hold, as well as the classes that partake at the library. This place is so much more than just books. I love it . Anyone new to the area get your library card and make sure to visit the website to see what’s goin on. Be part of this amazing space and place!

What a wonderful, beautiful place! The atmosphere is so peaceful, clean, welcoming and conducive to study and learning. The staff are very friendly and helpful but not invasive. They’re ready to help at any time! Their programming is eclectic offering something for everyone at every age. Just this Sunday I enjoyed listening to fiddle music with the fiddle jam, while attending my son’s presentation on hissing cockroaches as pets! There are tables spaced around the edges and corners for private work and study. There are laptops spread out that anyone may use. There’s a children’s area by the children’s books with toys and seating for both children and adults -what a great way to immerse children in reading and learning. Mrs. Morrison’s reading time is a delight! There’s ample parking in the back and down the street at Ives park. There’s periodic displays highlighting various books and authors including local authors and topics. They even loan snowshoes! -Very in tune with the interests of the people they serve.

The library has undergone significant renovations in the past few years. The new look is gorgeous and spacious, and the current staff are super friendly and helpful. There is something for everyone in the community, and all of it free - Artist Guild, LEGO workshops, Aromatherapy workshops, community Tarot night, Universal Class Online free classes (literally hundreds of these that you can access from anywhere), fiddle jams, Library Babies, author presentations, and so much more! They also have private meeting space that can be checked out, which is often used by individuals and even nonprofit agencies. Their WiFi is terrific and the book and movie selection is extensive. We borrow a LOT of DVDs for my son.
I’ve been a patron of this library for more than 40 years and consider it to be a true resource and gem in our local community.

Nice, with one reservation.
Great space with a classroom upstairs that can be reserved; it’s nice to work upstairs looking out over the newly renovated library. It’s also a bonus that they are open Sunsay, which Canton library is not.
Only issue is: taxpayers are funding tarot readings which seems like an ethical violation. If you’re not funding Catholic confessions or Quran readings or Jewish pastoral counseling…why are you privileging a psychic with the space, time, and advertising to do readings of supposed supernatural phenomena? Do these other traditions not deal with the supernatural? What’s the difference?
I have a mind to lodge a complaint about this the next time I see it promoted.

Staff are friendly and helpful, the library is well-lit and quiet, and there are plenty of places to read, study, and research. The various events they do are great as well!

The new Potsdam Library looks beautiful. I like that it has a upstairs and feels comfortable seating, it might need new new chairs, but I am okay with it for right now. I also love the beautiful staircase, the quality of the wood used to make them. Great customer service and friendly staff. The college students and residents are going to love.

I really like this library. I was used to Watertown library so it's quite a bit smaller but with interlibrary loan you still have those options available. The librarians are super friendly and I like the cozy atmosphere.

I LOVE this library, my favorite in the county. Large reading room, huge selection of movies, including a wonderful British collection. Very helpful staff who is more than willing to help. Easy access with parking in both the front and back. Plenty of computers, Wifi and large tables if you need a quiet place to work on a project.
