If you’ve spent any time photographing the Adirondacks, you know that great drone shots start with great coffee. On my recent trip to Schroon Lake, Stewart’s Shop was my unofficial HQ between flights — and, unexpectedly, a perfect spot to capture the small-town charm of the region.
About the Location:
This Stewart’s sits right off Route 9, just a short walk from the lake itself. From the air, it’s a surprisingly photogenic hub — the parking lot often full of boats on trailers, Adirondack-bound travelers, and locals catching up over coffee. The surrounding mountain ridges make for an ideal backdrop during golden hour, giving even a convenience store that “postcard” look.
Final Thoughts:
This stop was more than just a caffeine refuel. It reminded me that even the most ordinary locations can tell a story from above. Whether you’re photographing mountain vistas or your neighborhood corner store, the right perspective can turn it into something memorable.”
“This is the Best Stewart's gas and food shop in Chestertown.Gas is pretty inexpensive. All the food is on sale. Great deals on ice cream, hot dogs, soda, egg nog, beers and pantry foods. There are about 8-10 pumps up front with plenty of space for cars towing boats, jet skis and winter sport equipment like skidoos and skis. The Stewart's staff was pretty amiable and helpful. Even the long lines were no big deal as people were friendly, even talking to strangers and tourists! It is a very large Stewarts with all sorts of isles for anything your household or travel plans could require. Visitors were purchasing ice creams, racks of beer, cigarettes, soda, lottery and food. Great place to stop in and stock up.Stewart's Shops are the clean and efficient and friendly place to be in New York.Review: 5”

“Stopped here for gas on a road trip and walked inside just to check it out. They sell ice cream here!!? I ordered the brownie ice cream and the girl who helped me was so nice! Also for a scoop on a sugar cone it was about $4 (really good price!!)?Anyways, the brownie cookie flavor was 10/10 so good, felt like I was ascending into heaven. Very happy we stopped by :))”
“Very nice and helpful staff. The store was very neat and clean. The pharmacist was also kind. The reception in the building is very poor but it's like that in that whole neighborhood so I can't fully blame the store. Good place. ?”
