The Long Island Science Center is a fun and interesting place for children and science enthusiasts of all ages. Located in the Tanger Outlets, it is one large room organized into different stations with a variety of engaging, hands-on activities. These include a 3D printer pen, drones, VR booths, a physics wall, a huge light bright wall, Edison cars, and workshops. The experience is self-guided with clearly labeled sections. While the space is smaller than some expect, it packs numerous activities that can keep a family busy for two to four hours. It is considered perfect for older elementary children, around ages 8-12, who may be bored by typical children's museums, though toddlers and younger children can also enjoy it. The staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, patient, and happy to assist, ensuring everyone can participate. They manage activities like the virtual reality booth with a waiting list fairly. Some visitors note the admission price can feel expensive for the number of exhibits, and occasionally activities like the drones may be broken. However, most find it a must-visit hidden gem and a great experience. It is also highlighted as an excellent venue for group visits, like Cub Scouts, and for birthday parties, with programs that are fun, educational, and captivating. Visitors often plan to return. Amenities include picnic tables outside, nearby mall bathrooms, and a gift shop with fair prices.
What a great experience with our pack of Cub Scouts 161. Mrs. Judy was excellent with our group of 50 kids making sure each had a wonderful time. Truly a great place to bring your kids.
