Lots of broken chips on the shore. Water is nice, but waves are rough and brings up the sand with it.

Riis is a great option for city beaches. So close and the amenities game has been upped. Was here multiple times this summer and it was always a blast.

I haven’t gone for the beach lately by I do go fishing on the other side of the parking lots across from the highway. Mostly porgies and flukes but a great time with the boys.

Always do clean and I always seem to get a good spot. Parking is $20, best to get season pass $100 if you live in the area. Restrooms are always clean and wash off area out not too bad either.

For many Brooklyn and Queens residents who drive - this is reliable beach which is easy to get to. I find it to be pretty clean despite the vast number of people visiting. I personally like that the beach doesn’t really get very busy on weekends until 10-12, allowing early risers to take advantage and enjoy a quiet beach for a while, vs some Long Island beaches will fill up before 10am or earlier. The day rate is steep at 20$ but I typically buy the season pass and make sure I get my moneys worth. The vendors are great but we usually pack lunch. We also like the playground! Overall can’t be beat.

Love this beach. (For the people). Great food options. The view of the city driving back is a plus.

In my view, it is the best beach in NYC. We have places to eat and dring, areas for different people (family, young people, LGBT, etc) and is not noisy and commercial as Coney Island for example. Sometimes it is very windy.

This is always a great beach. Even on the busiest days - July 4th weekend - there is space to hang on the beach. Usually there’s lots of families and small groups. Music is always playing and everyone is very chilled.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Riis Beach is such a great spot to spend the day. The beach is wide, clean, and never feels too crowded, even on busy weekends. The water is nice for swimming, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and relax. What I love most is the mix of people—it has a welcoming, laid-back vibe that makes everyone feel comfortable.
There are food stands and little spots to grab drinks or snacks, so you don’t have to leave if you get hungry. The sunsets here are also amazing, definitely worth staying to watch. Whether you want to hang out with friends, take a walk, or just relax by the ocean, Riis Beach has the perfect atmosphere.

Great beach .one of the better beaches in NYC. The park has added live music and better food vendors. You can also shoot a round of 9
