To be as succinct as possible; from my first and last experience ever with them...I feel they have malicious practices. That they prey upon their clientele. They claimed my vehicle needed an expensively exorbitant amount of work done in order to pass a NY state inspection. Whereas a differing and less gentrified business gave me a MUCH more reasonable claim to pass. They're also not that hospitable to individuals that don't look like them either as the younger workers I dealt with came off as slimy and pretentious.

I went here to get new tires along with an alignment they did the job rather quickly so I experienced no issues in terms of that. I was also given a complimentary car inspection the results of that inspection is what will make me never return to pep boys especially not for any type of servicing to my car and I don’t recommend anyone else go there for car servicing jobs. I was told that my back breaks pads and or rooters needed to be fixed which was a shock to me as I had them all replaced front and back approx 3-4 months ago. What really gave me a bad taste was they also told me I needed to replace both my front axels. I was very confused by this as again I replaced my passenger side axel same time last year. I did get a photo in the report of one axel which I now know was the driver side that did actually need to be replaced. I knew something was fishy so I didn’t have them do any work on my car besides my tires and went to a mechanic close to where I live. He showed me yes the driver side axel needs to be replaced but the passenger side is still in good shape looks rather NEW!!!!! Pep boys quoted me a little over 1k to fix both axels and I ended up paying $350 to replace the one axel that actually needed to be replaced at my mechanic!! Never will I trust pep boys for work on my car again they almost got me and I’m sure they do that to others. Extremely dissatisfied with the way they run their business at this location.

DO NOT COME HERE TO HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED!! I came here on 02/03/25 for a routine oil change, what could go wrong right?? An oil change is the most basic auto service you can have done and the person performing the oil change should have had enough experience to do so. It took over 2 hrs to have oil drained from my vehicle and a new filter and oil put in. After those 2 hrs the gentleman at the front desk said there’s a problem and for some reason oil is leaking after the oil change was completed. And I said well I think that needs to be fixed because it shouldn’t be leaking oil… I’m not sure if the filter was the inappropriate size or what happened but after they seemed to have fixed the issue. After I had left I noticed oil on the interior of my vehicle. On the steering wheel, inside door handle, and gear shifter. I was going to turn around and go back but I had already crossed across the Goethals bridge back to NJ when I noticed the oil smell was still lingering and when I turned the interior light on I saw why.
Then the next morning I noticed it was on the outside of my car as well and under my car oil was leaking.
I called the Manager Alfred the next day and he advised me to have my car towed into Staten Island and I live in NJ. I considered doing this as he pleaded that he wanted to make things right by making sure the oil leak is fixed and my car was appropriately cleaned. I decided not to take my car an hour back to Staten Island and pay the toll to go over into NY and instead took it to a closer PepBoys location in NJ. The PepBoys location in NJ did an outstanding job to assure me that there was no oil leak but instead just an excessive amount of oil spillage from the previous oil change. They apologized for the other location not taking the time to clean up the excessive oil spillage causing me to worry that my car was leaking oil and that they should have never gotten oil on the interior or exterior of my car like it had. I wasted so much of my time dealing with this issue and I feel like this PepBoys location at 1941 Forest Ave Staten Island, NY should compensate me for my time, worry, and oil on the interior/exterior of my car that I requested a refund. Alfred denied my request and said to take it up with corporate. I have written out documentation from the Pep Boys in NJ which proves negligence. It supports that the mechanic performing the oil change displayed lack of proper care and attention when performing the oil change causing an excessive amount of oil to spill all over my car and then the lack of cleaning it after and also getting the oil on the interior/exterior of my car. I would like corporate to reach out to me about this issue.

Service was fine. Ended up not doing much. The dent and giant scratches in my car weren't appreciated though.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. I came to Pep Boys expecting basic brake service and a wheel alignment. Six hours later when I picked up my vehicle, my brakes squeak and rattle at low speeds, and the car is completely unstable at 50-60 MPH. I will never go back to this Pep Boys after this experience. I expected at the bare minimum, a standard service in spite of the wait. Now my vehicle is in worse condition then I dropped it off. It is hard to screw up service on a Toyota Camry/Lexus ES platform. Completely unacceptable and I am disappointed. The worst part was having one of the salesman try and sell me on suspension parts for a "clunking" noise I never had before arriving that morning which said representative "found" - insult to injury. Be nice if they found the motivation to properly service the vehicle. 0 stars needs to be a thing on Google.

Honestly would give this location zero stars if I could.
I had a flat and booked a tire puncture repair. Was told they'll be right with me and it'll be about 30 mins; 2 hours and multiple people who came after me getting served and finished before me later, I had to remind them to service my car. I paid the $27 and they said everything was okay, and my tire was flat again 2 hours later. Went right back and they were shocked that it was flat, and the mechanic gave me this long story about how he missed the nail in my tire and patched it (again).
Two hours later, my tire was flat AGAIN to the point where I couldn't drive it. I called AAA to put the spare tire on and when they took the wheel off, the guy immediately showed me the HUGE nail sticking out of my tire in a place different from where they "patched" it.
I'm not sure if the workers at this location are stupid, lazy, or trying to scam me (maybe all three?) but I'm not sure how after TWO visits, you miss the issue entirely. I will never be back to this location, and I implore you to never go here either.

The service department was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. I had my oil changed. It was quick, competitively priced and neat. I trust Pep Boys completely. I would go back again for other service work as well.

I went there for the first time to get an oil change and was 30 minutes before they were to close. I had called before going and, they said they would change the oil in my vehicle, but once I arrived all I saw was a couple of young guys that work there and none wanted to work the last 30 minutes before closing and told me that they were getting ready to go home to come back another day. I left disappointed and went to get my oil change at Allen Auto Shop close by. It turned out better anyways because I payed less than Pepboys wanted to charge me from the beginning. An Update, From 6/2024..
I went there to give this place a second chance smfh ? ?, got tires all 4, had balancing done and wheel alignment all worked out pretty good ?..Now my vehicle is light beige interior inside, we'll guess what? they had no regards what so everrrrrr for my interior to get all full of black grease, I mean hand prints, finger prints, it looked like they were hanging inside my vehicle with filthy hands, but all i saw was, the kid who changed my tires drove my vehicle into the lift thats all...Unbelievable I was really pissed, but the young guy I believed had already left, because my car was the last one before going home. I mention it to the guy at the counter and all he said was (you can speak to the manager tomorrow bc he is not here now). All I'm going to say about this is be careful leaving your vehicle unattended and be sure if you have light interior in your vehicle, to tell them not to touch around with dirty hands like if they are kindergartens. I spent about $800. Dollars on tires there, and now it'll cost me more money detailing the upholstery. All because they take no responsibility for your vehicle after the fact. Like I said, I gave them a second chance and they managed to show the business's true colors anyway. I say too many young kids there or not enough training. My Opinion...All I know this left me with a sour taste in my mouth ? ?.

When there to change my rear brakes, but refuse to do it unless I change the front as well as per their policies. Went to small local shop instead.
