I don't remember the name of the team member who helped me, but she went above and beyond to help me with a credit card issue. I loved the car, it ran very well and gas mileage was great. Returning my car was so easy.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service received at the Syracuse (SYR) Hertz location during a recent rental experience.
We reserved a 7-passenger vehicle in advance to transport football players on Sunday. Upon arriving at the airport on Friday, we were informed that the reserved vehicle was not available. Instead, we were given a 5-passenger vehicle and told to return Saturday morning to receive the correct class of vehicle—despite already being charged for the larger vehicle.
On Saturday morning, we attempted to contact the SYR location multiple times by phone with no response. We then drove to the location, where my husband was told that a suitable vehicle might become available later that day.
When I arrived at the counter, I noticed two 7-passenger vehicles in the Hertz return lot and asked to speak with the Manager. I was met by an employee named Thomas, who asked what the issue was. I explained the situation and showed him photos of the available vehicles. He dismissed my concerns and told me to speak with my husband, claiming the Manager had already spoken with him. I again requested to speak with the Manager, but Thomas said he would call him “when he got a minute,” estimating a 15-minute wait. He then took a sip of his coffee and asked me to move aside, despite there being no other customers in line.
I refused to move until the Manager was contacted, expressing frustration at the poor attitude and lack of willingness to help. Eventually, the Manager, Perry, arrived and confirmed that a 7-passenger vehicle was available. He instructed Thomas to exchange the cars.
Given the inconvenience, lack of communication, and dismissive customer service, we will not be recommending or renting from Hertz in the future.

Horrible. Huge line because the buffoons behind the counter moved so slow. Their competitors all moved the lines along more quickly. Hertz is normally a good company, but this location is terrible.

Hertz took care of everything, and I am grateful and respect that they handled it all well. I will rent from them again. Thank you Hertz for keeping your word and taking care of everything!
Below is what happened initially but all is good now!
Rented car with the return time being after hours because our flight was at 6am.
We returned the car in the Hertz car rental area, filled out the card and returned the key and card into the little after hours return key/card box up at the Hertz counter shared with the company next to them when you pick up your keys for the rental.
It was returned exactly as we received it aside from the few added miles from driving.
That was 5:15am on Aug 25, 2024.
Now it’s Sept 2, 2024.
Within that timeframe my credit card has been charged $100.00 EVERY SINGLE MORNING between 1am and 3am. I left Hertz 3 messages through their “contact us” online dorm throughout that time, and spoke to someone from their customer service, and I’m still being charged. The lady I spoke to said the originally never closed it out after I returned it, so she sent them that or whatever to close it. That was days ago, and I’m still being charged. I never heard anything back from the online forms submitted. They just charging away so I froze my card, and it just tells me every morning that they tried to charge it. I don’t know if I should go to the police about this or what. I don’t live near that airport. I’m not flying out to NY to go to the car rental spot.
All I’m saying for those reading this is be cautious. If you’re returning your rental after hours, maybe go with a different company because this one is causing financial stress and anxiety and I have no idea how to fix it. It’s literally every single morning, wake up to child crying, then check phone and Hertz charged another $100.00 to my credit card. They’ve not contacted me even once with any reason or question or explanation as to why they continue charging it. Again, car was taken care of and returned exactly as the rental agreement was written.

Dropped my car off to the attendant in the garage 2 hours before it was due. Was told they'd be emailing a receipt, which is a pretty standard practice. Received my receipt several hours later with a late return charge and an additional day of charges for the LDW. Have tried to call this location as well as the customer support online and received no help or response. Unsure why the car wasn't marked as returned immediately as the drop off for Hertz was completely empty when I was there.

Particular chain bad, company as a whole bad. Sadly only one here open late. Website just keeps erroring out and they don't want people to call to make reservations (which I understand as most rental places are well under staffed)...but website doesn't work and no one answers calls.

Never answer the phone!!!!! Did not charge the electric vehicle I rented. Like another reviewer vehicle was on 59 percent charge.

The worst hertz on the planet. Incompetent and useless. I pre paid for my wife's car. She arrived and they insisted they had to run her Amex for a deposit again (even though it was already on file). Of course, their system glitched and declined the card. It turned into a big mess, and we had to use our debit card instead.
This is by far the worst Hertz experience we have ever had. What a joke. I will not use this location again. Hertz is a great company, but this particular location is an absolute disaster just like previous reviews state

I typical avoid leaving reviews, especially bad ones. But this was the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. I rented a car online and paid the dues through Booking. I arrived at the airport and was informed I had to pay more than what my invoice said. I questioned the reason and was simply told I had to pay and that I should contact Booking when I asked to cancel the reservation since they were not honoring my reservation. To make matter’s worse, I ended up receiving a car I would never want to drive and was told that’s all they had left. Pretty avoid Hertz because their staff is not helpful at all and all they care about is money and have no people skills. I did a survey and they were to contact me by phone after 72 hours. No one called which is why I decided to leave this review here because I know the one I completed will never be posted. I waited almost two hours ( ridiculous) to pick up a car after arriving. I travel a lot and I have never experienced this at any other agency.

Rental scheduled here for pickup at 1230 am. Get there and no one is around. Other desks are covering for other agencies but not Hertz. 3 other customers wandering around looking for Hertz. Waited for an hour and got a taxi. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. You are risking your safety putting yourself in their hands. I will be reporting to BBB. Also posting all over social media. Let’s get the word out and get these clowns fired. Look how many people they have stranded and abandoned!

Very possibly the worst Hertz location in the system. Only one person working the line. No Gold Members line or pickup. Took an hour and a half to get through 30 people.
The other rental car desks were better staffed. Skip Hertz in Syracuse.
