Longest wait I’ve had for a car rental.Updated:Rented several more times with this location, still the worst Hertz I’ve ever rented with. Been overcharged one time, charged for a completely different reservation another time, stuck with an EV that I didn’t want with the charger at the hotel broken a third time. Unless you are stuck renting from Hertz because of a corporate agreement between companies, avoid renting from them at Syracuse.

1. Currently renting and realized last night that my rental agreement says that I received the Tesla at 100% charge which is not the case. I got the car at 59% charged. I’ve made numerous calls to this location with no answer. The online chat is unavailable and can’t get through to anyone using the 1-800 number either. Picture attached showing 59% when I picked it up yesterday.2. They tried to charge me $50 more for insurance then I was originally quoted and it wasn’t until I was able to prove to them that I was quoted a certain price did they finally admit there was an error in their system.3. Car was filthy on the inside and out. It clearly wasn’t wiped down, dust everywhere and the driver side rear window was halfway down when I walked up to the car. Front windshield was so bad that I could hardly see out of it.4. Even though I am a gold reward member, I will NEVER rent from this location again. I’ll stick with National.5. Lastly, adding the photos of the prior damage to the vehicle since no rep did a walk-thru with me or gave me a form to fill out.

Rented a car online for my trip to Syracuse. I was charged for the rental with my chime credit card only for me to show up at the airport and be told they don't accept the card I was already charged on. Had to spend 30 minutes on the phone to cancel my rental and waited an additional 5 days for a refund on the rental. Long story short if you use chime. Don't go with Hertz. Enterprise will accept chime and the process is a lot more streamlined.

Absolutely the worst car rental experience I have ever been tortured with! My rental car was not ready when I arrived, I was told it was getting cleaned and would be ready in 15 minutes. Two lies, the car was ready in 45 minutes and it was disgusting. Dirty fork on the floor, gravel, dirt and pine needles all over the interior. Slime/sludge on two of the seats, who knows what smeared on the windows. I returned the car early, the staff never closed the rental so I was charged $60 late fee that the local employee couldn't assist with. The car lacks itself when you walk away (with the key card inside), then Hertz charges you $12 to remote unlock it. I'm standing in the rain with no access to the car and I have to pay an agent to press a button on his computer to let me in??? 5 calls to Hertz, 2 emails, a horrible survey review/response requesting a call back, and I drove to the local rental office at the airport, still, no responses or assistance with y overcharges, poor experience, or customer concerns. First and last rental with Hertz! I'd rather walk than pay this scammining useless company for a car.

Airport location yet closes at 7. Many planes land later and you are stuck. Car had a tire with much less pressure than normal (10lbs under the other three), was missing the stem cap and even when filled did not hold air properly (went from 33 to 25lbs). Another tire was curb rashed and had a chunk taken out. When calling Hertz for help their suggestion was to take a 2.5 hour round trip drive to the airport location that would be closed in order to swap the car or to take an almost 6 hour round trip drive to an "authorozed" repair place in a different state LOL. Horrible service from all sides. I had to spend money on a hotel room by the airport because of a delayed flight since they close at 7 and not when the last flight comes in, which is the logical closing time for an airport. No option for the Gold board at this location so you have to have an agent check you in for a car.

My boss December 16 dropped off his at the Syracuse airport and by accident left his coat , Christmas gift and a box of walnuts . Same day I went over there and the guy said he’d look into it . Today , Sunday 12/17/23 I went over there again . The young girl that was there was super nice ? and friendly. We’ve both spent like 20 min on the phone with someone name Travis . He didn’t even asked what car , model none of that. He just said - we don’t have it . I asked him yo come up and see me at the register. When he came over he said - I don’t care who’s your boss is , we don’t have your stuff, it’s not my responsibility that your boss is so irresponsible, I don’t even have to talk to you .So , guys , watch out and please don’t leave your stuff in the car because you will never get them back . Especially if people like this guy Travis work there .

Have been renting cars for decades and this experience is one of the worst. I was given a car that had not been cleaned. I was going to accept it, but when I noticed the cup holders were sticky, I had no choice. I unpacked the car, walked back to the terminal and requested a new vehicle, which was not great but at least not sticky. 1 hour into the drive I realized I left my jacket and cap in the first dirty car...tried calling 10 times and finally reached the staff at the airport, only to be told to file a lost report online (how difficult is it for them to just spend a minute to go check that dirty car and locate my items like any caring humans would do??). That was 1 whole month ago and there was never any update. I believe my jacket and cap should be placed under the 'stolen by staff' category instead. The car was fine otherwise, so this is at least just a human resource issue, not a hardware/safety issue.

Do not rent from Hertz at SYR. Arrived from IAD yesterday at 6pm. At least 10 passengers from the flight got in line. The man behind the counter was overwhelmed. He actually had to leave the counter to find cars in the garage. Why were they so unprepared? I was given a vehicle with 50k mikes, windshield so dirty on the inside hard to see. Back gate control did not work, radio also not working. I was given keys and when I asked about the vehicle, the Hertz rep, said I don't know anything about the vehicle. I will not rent hertz here ever again.

Had these clowns try and claim my own personal vehicle that is 15 years old with a clean title and a NYS DMV title trace show it was never owned by Hertz. Clowns had some tow company haul my car off in the middle of night (stole it). Then fail to answer any of my questions. Car was returned a day later after threatening to sue the tow company. Not sure if this location is responsible for the illegal tow or not, Hertz is. Never heard of them until a week ago. I don't travel very often or very far outside of my county.

Wow - the staff is beyond rude. They do not answer their phone and when they do they hang up immediately. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable even if the they are 'understaffed.'The issue:The car I picked up smelled like l marijuana, had a toothpick in the cup holder, hair and dirt all over the the seats ... and all the check this/that lights were on.I was told 'nuthin I can do.' Really!? Nuthin! No cars. No options. No return. Corporate was not helpful - roadside was not helpful. Their solution 'it's an independent dealer so you have to take it up with them.'Bottom line: don't use hertz. Ever! Spend the extra cash and go with enterprise.(Sorry for the long review ... probably have a contact high from the car).

Wow - what an awful company! I was picked up by a friend that had a rental from Hertz by the airport. The car smelled of cigarettes and marijuana. There were crumbs all over the seats and a used toothpick in the cupholder. The staff did not seem to care, nor were they willing to clean the car or give us another one. They refuse to take calls and would either just let the phone ring or pick it up and hang up on you. This is unacceptable! I would use a different company if you are able.
