Me and my fiance go to the Y in Troy, everyone there is always extremely friendly and helpful. We’ve also been doing the personal training with Austin and he’s been an incredible resource for us in terms of learning our way around the gym, improving ourselves and not hurting ourselves along the way! Funny and professional and always makes training a good time.

While this Y is slightly smaller than the other Y’s in the capital district, the facilities are still very nice and the staff is incredibly personable and helpful! My fiancé and I have been seeing Austin for personal training since late October, and we both have witnessed really wonderful progress in both shape and strength. Austin makes training a lot of fun, and breaks down each exercise in an easy to follow and unintimidating way. As two novices to working out, we were at first a little overwhelmed by all the equipment, but with Austin’s help, we feel so much more confident and are getting wedding ready!

My friend and I joined the Troy YMCA in December, 2023.We have been working out together for the past twenty years at various gyms located in the Capital District. During that time, we worked with many various personal trainers employed at those facilities. My friend and I recently agreed that Troy YMCA trainer, Austin Martell, has been the most talented & professional trainer that we've had the privilege to work with.During the last two months, Austin has closely worked with both of us and has ensured that we are obtaining the maximum benefits in conjunction with our workouts. He has provided an extremely high level of professional guidance regarding strength training, cardio training and nutritional education. We both highly recommend Austin as a personal trainer for any new member of the Troy YMCA who seeks to get the maximum benefit for their workouts. We are very grateful that we discovered such a dedicated & enlightened personal trainer.

Registration was a breeze. I got Great service. Was able to use my military ID to get a discount. I did get a huge splinter from the banister heading down to the pool but they took good care of it so that I could get in. Then I got a call the next day to see if I was OK.. joined the Aqua Zumba.

This YMCA is a great place and an excellent resource. I am still actively working on my weight loss journey, I can say that I probably would not have gotten as far without the help of the trainers and others!

The lifeguards are great but the guy who runs the exercise room and and another employee had a joke at my expense because I was struggling to work a piece of equipment due to a disability that I recently developed. No apology and I did report it to staff. I came home and cried.

I have been going to the YMCA almost a year now and they have been nothing but nice and helpful to me, see I’m a heavier set female and was so nervous but the trainers there didn’t judge me or laugh when I didn’t know how to work some of the equipment, they made me feel welcomed so welcomed that I even got a friend of mine to sign up and we love it there one of the trainers even helped us with some of the equipment there when we didn’t know how to use it we playfully joked around with him cuz he is so tiny compared to some of the equipment but he is very good at his job and knows how to take a joke thank you YMCA !

The trainers there are awesome and quite helpful I don’t really talk to people or ask for help much but they make me feel safe there and can see when I’m a little lost on some of the equipment

#cancelYMCAMy recent visit to the YMCA 6-11-23 at 9am was supposed to be an enjoyable experience, turned into a distressing ordeal due to the actions of Nick.To begin with, upon arrival, I misread the price of day passes without the pool which is stated ONLINE, mistakenly assuming it to be $35 because that’s what the website said. However, it would have been helpful if Nick had clarified the actual price when we checked in. Instead, he made an error by charging the wrong amount, which he realized only 15-20 minutes into our visit. Rather than discreetly addressing the issue, Nick stormed into the weigh room and loudly proclaimed that we "owed" an additional $10, completely disregarding the privacy and dignity of my family and I.The manner in which Nick chose to handle this situation was entirely unprofessional and unacceptable. Instead of discussing such matters privately, he intentionally embarrassed us in front of other customers present in the gym. His aggressive tone and demeanor were highly inappropriate, and it was distressing to witness him yelling at my family member, who had done nothing to deserve such treatment. As a concerned customer, I requested Nick to resolve the issue privately, offering to pay the additional amount immediately. However, he callously ignored my request and continued to shout at my two other family members until I had to intervene.Furthermore, when Nick sensed my distress and upset, he resorted to gaslighting and invalidated my feelings towards the situation. It is disheartening to see a YMCA staff member treating customers with such disrespect and failing to take responsibility for his own mistakes. Nick, instead of acknowledging his error in charging us the wrong amount, shamelessly shifted the blame onto me and my family.I must emphasize that this type of behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of professionalism, respect, and customer service that one expects from a reputed organization like the YMCA. As a paying customer, I deserve to be treated with dignity and courtesy, not subjected to public humiliation and mistreatment.I kindly request that you take this complaint seriously and investigate the matter thoroughly. It is essential that appropriate disciplinary action is taken against Nick for his unprofessional conduct. Furthermore, I hope you will implement measures to ensure that all front desk staff members are properly trained in customer service and interpersonal communication skills.I trust that you will address this matter promptly and take the necessary steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

I have been coming for for some time, but the facility is lacking cleanliness.Apparently Y management fired cleaners who did a decent job in the past.Currently the place is a disaster and surprised the health department hasn't shut them down. The locker rooms a littered with trash, dust and mold in shower. Who knows about the pools. Sauna's floor has never been cleaned and definitely growing someone science project under the wood boards.I think upper management should've thought out the consequences prior to releasing the cleaning company because the Y management is doing a piss poor job with maintenance and cleaning of the facility.Truly wonder what would happen if the health department would come in . My guess they would shut them down to get up to par with health safety .Clean the facilities please.
