The hall is beautiful but the acoustics are surprisingly poor. I’ve seen several shows in which the sound was so echoey you couldn't even understand what the performers was saying when talking to the audience ! The sound at the recent Taylor Dayne show was terrible, which was a shame. Some solution is needed.

Classic venue, plenty of help, but the alcoholic beverage prices are way too high.

What a beautiful venue!! Graceful old world charm from an era gone by...marble staircases, huge chandelier, the box seats, the pipes for the organ!! Everywhere you look- lovely!! (Modern day elevator too!!) Saw Taylor Dayne show last night and was blown away by the building and the show. Smaller theater space is so personal! Ushers were friendly and helpful too. Concession stand has the right idea with reusable lidded cups for beverages! (And they're cute too!!)

A great old, intimate, and beautifully maintained performance space. The side boxes are a unique experience. The only downside is the extremely narrow and tightly packed seating. That is certainly not exclusive to this venue, even when compared to modern venues.

Acoustics are great. It's a smaller venue holding, I believe. 1,100. Very cozy and friendly environment. Not a bad seat in the house. However, the actual seats are very cramped and uncomfortable. Watching AJ Croce and his fabulous tribute to his late father, Jim Croce made it all worthwhile. I would still highly recommend this venue.

Great acoustics. Very-well maintained theatre of 140 years old! The seats are predictably small and tight, but that is to be expected given the age of the theatre. Overall, a positive experience, but any show past 90 minutes is testing one's comfort, especially if you are long-legged/tall. Would suggest an intermission for shows lasting past 90 min.

The acoustics are so remarkable that it feels like you can hear each singer and/or instrument individually.

If you have not experienced a concert here, it's a different concert experience. There's a reason this place is renowned as being one of the best acoustic venues. Hearing the Albany Symphony do a concert in albany (which has decent acoustics), and then hearing them repeat a similar performance here at the Troy music hall, is kinda like first hearing a recording in standard and then hearing it in high definition; the treble is crisper, the bass has more resonance, the sound is just fuller, clearer, richer. I prefer the upper balcony, which is like enjoying six flights of stairs, yet worth the climb; the acoustics are as good as anywhere in the theater and the view of entire stage is unparalleled and not far from the stage. Decent views are available from almost anywhere else though; and I would sit anywhere in this theater as opposed to a prime seat at Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall, the sound is just better here, wherever you sit. The hard seats are a function of acoustics, you can bring or obtain a cushion, but if you're enjoying the performance you're unlikely to find yourself sitting on the back of your seat much anyway.

The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is one of the biggest hidden gems in the capital district. It is absolutely stunning on the inside. Just walking in you sense that it has a very classy and intimate feel. I have sat both at the every top and in the front before and can definitely say that it is worth it to spend more for box seats or for sitting on the main level. The top balcony is wooden seating with metal bars diving the seats and they are not ideal if you are a plus sized person or even a normal sized person if you are tall. Definitely worth going whenever you can!

My husband and I went to see Brian Fallon at the Troy Music Hall. A first time for us both. It was truly wonderful. What a well cared for, beautiful gem of a venue. The acoustics were perfect as well. It was a night I will always remember. And now I'm just looking for more shows to see there!

The acoustics are world famous but they come at the expense of spaciousness and comfort. The seats are sized for persons long ago and not larger present day adults.
