Sonesta Simply Suites Charlotte University is an affordable hotel offering value for money, particularly suited for short, work-related stays. Reviews consistently note the decent, comfortable rooms with clean, bug-free spaces and comfortable beds with fresh linens. The hotel provides good customer service, with staff described as kind, helpful, professional, and understanding. Amenities include an on-site fitness center and free parking, though the lot is noted as fairly small and tight. However, the property shows significant wear and requires more careful cleaning. Multiple reviews mention that the carpet, especially in stairwells, is horrendous and needs replacement or deep cleaning. Issues with cleanliness are noted, such as hair in bathrooms, dirt on surfaces, a non-functioning bathroom vent, and occasional pests like water bugs. A recurring problem is the smell of marijuana in hallways and rooms, despite no-smoking signs. The elevator sometimes does not work, and the building is described as run-down. The location is near UNC Charlotte but is not very walkable. While the rooms get the job done for a great price, the hotel has clear potential for improvement with more thorough maintenance and cleaning.
we’ve have stayed at plenty of hotels for music festivals and we had the best experience here. The customer service was fantastic from Shamika, Kay, and Kaylene (sorry if I misspelled). Everything was well worth the price and I would gladly stay here again. Thank you for all your help!

This place needs a deep cleaning. Furniture and carpet filthy. The bathroom floor was nasty and hadn't been scrubbed in years. The fragrance thats being piped in smells like smoke and isn't inviting. I will never stay in such filth again.

It's in a good location but unfortunately one of the lady in the front desk wasn't very nice.
