Aloft Durham Downtown is a modern hotel located in a lively area next to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and the American Tobacco Campus. Its prime location makes it a popular choice for those attending shows or exploring nearby restaurants and attractions, including a great steakhouse just outside. The hotel offers convenient parking options, with a voucher provided for the attached garage, and is within walking distance of many dining and entertainment options. Guests generally find the staff to be friendly, attentive, and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere during their stay. The spacious lobby area features games and a bar, adding to the relaxed vibe. Rooms are on the small side but are well-laid-out, especially the king deluxe, which is noted for being large and comfortable. However, some reviews mention that rooms can have issues such as loud train noise passing nearby, high ceilings, and a lack of dresser space. Additionally, some guests found the rooms to be bright or dark due to missing window sheers, and a few experienced noise disturbances from the bathroom vent fan or the train. Facilities like the pool and gym are small, and service can vary; for example, some guests noted that water in rooms was not replenished during extended stays. Overall, the hotel is a good option for short stays, especially for attending shows or events nearby, but potential guests should be aware of the noise and room size considerations.
Very nice Marriot property in the heart of Durham. Rooms are a bit on the small size but modern and well appointed. If you are going to see the Durham Bulls play, there is no better place to stay.

Hallway was FREEZING. Im unsure why because it was 70 degrees out. Location was good with 30 minute parking in front of the hotel for check-in/out. Lots of places nearby for breakfast. Pet friendly. I don't think it was worth $400/night though.

Perfect location to explore downtown. The hotel is most typical, common, and offers no real value other than location. The room AC was also typical in very little heat transfer and room comfort. Probably a lack of proper maintenance, coil cleaning, and filter replacement.
