Discount Tire is a tire store and rim shop located on the southeast side of Hickory. It offers a wide selection of tires and wheels for cars, SUVs, and trucks, stocking popular brands and offering installation. Services include tire installation, rotation, balancing, and free flat repair and air pressure checks. Customer experiences vary. Many report good work, with tires well balanced and lug nuts properly torqued. Staff are often described as competent, courteous, professional, friendly, and informative. The store honors its services, performing free flat repairs and replacing damaged parts at no charge. However, there are consistent criticisms regarding appointment efficiency. Despite advanced appointments, wait times are frequently reported as long, around 1.5 to 2 hours, with appointments not reducing wait times. Some customers report rushed jobs, resulting in issues like tires with different pressure readings and dirty rims not cleaned after installation. On one occasion, an employee was reported yelling at a customer in the lot. While many customers have had very good service over the years and call it a great place to purchase tires and wheels, these service inconsistencies prevent a perfect rating from some.
