“Dollar General in Kinston, North Carolina is the kind of store where you walk in needing one simple item and somehow your shopping cart starts making life decisions for you. You tell yourself, “I’m just grabbing paper towels,” and five minutes later you are holding snacks, cleaning supplies, batteries, dog treats, seasonal decorations, and a pack of socks you did not know your soul required.
This place has that mysterious Dollar General magic — the aisles gently whisper, “Go ahead, you need this too.” Before you know it, your basket is full, your wallet is still alive, and you are standing at checkout feeling like a bargain-hunting champion. The store is convenient, easy to shop, and perfect when you need everyday items without running across town like you are training for the Olympics.
I truly appreciate Dollar General in Kinston for being a dependable stop for quick shopping, household essentials, snacks, and those surprise finds that jump into the cart when nobody is looking. Great convenience, good prices, and a shopping experience that proves sometimes the quickest stops turn into the best little treasure hunts.”
“Went shopping here today. And I see major improvement. The store was very clean and organized....also a major variety of stuff to choose from.... friendliest employees and great prices....I also see new items that are very useful and affordable....”
“This is your typical Dollar Tree store. They carry the same things as other Dollar Tree stores. You can find great stocking stuffers here for Christmas, things to do projects with, etc. They have some food items as well as health and beauty items, etc. I think they are soon going to start having some items that are more than $1, bit I haven't seen the change happen yet.”
“Love shopping at DG. But aisle s are always full. Boxed merchandise needs to be put up. Always out of different items I shop for. Need more staff period! Tidy items on shelves. All over the place. Have someone come in and check out the coolers! Just a messy place right now !”
“Five stars all day. The staff here is genuinely friendly, helpful, and always willing to point you in the right direction without making you feel rushed. The store itself is clean, organized, and—most importantly—well stocked, which feels like a small miracle these days. ?
Whether you’re running in for one quick item or grabbing a cartful of everyday essentials, this Dollar General makes it easy and pleasant. Shelves are full, aisles are neat, and checkout is smooth. It’s clear the team takes pride in keeping the store running right.
Big appreciation to the employees for making a simple shopping trip feel welcoming and stress-free. This is exactly how a neighborhood store should be run—reliable, friendly, and convenient. Highly recommend stopping in!”
“This store is in a different location than shown in the pictures here. Also, the inside pictures here do not represent the current store. The new store is alot cleaner and more organized.”
“I was in the store and I couldn't find what I was looking for. The young lady Carlesha stopped what she was doing and walked me to where I could find what I was looking for. Carlesha showed that she has the potential of going beyond her cashier position. I thought that she was one of the manangers there due to her being so helpful. Carlesha is how customer service should be displayed with in an establishment. I thank you so much Miss Carlesha for your pleasant attitude, assistance and your great customer service!”
“Carlotta is an absolute gem at Dollar General—she truly shines as a standout employee!
From the second I walked in, she made me feel genuinely welcome. Even while busy stocking shelves, she greeted me warmly with a bright, friendly smile and immediately asked if I needed help finding anything. Her positive, upbeat energy carried through the entire interaction, right up to a smooth and cheerful checkout experience.
In a world where exceptional customer service is becoming harder to find, Carlotta stands out as golden. She’s personable, attentive, and brings real joy to what could be a routine visit. Dollar General is lucky to have her—this level of kindness and professionalism deserves recognition!
If you’re ever at this location, look for Carlotta—you’ll leave smiling, just like I did. ⭐️”

“To be honest, I don't come in here very often. When I do though, I usually find something that I can only find here, such as the Dead Sea Collection of shampoo and conditioner, which I'm personally fond of. I recommend giving Big Lots a check from time to time. You might be surprised with what you find, and maybe find something you like?”
