“Highly recommend this vet. My dog was 13 and we’ve been to many vets over the years but this place stands out. They aren’t pushy on products or services and they allow you to make the decisions. The vet laid out our options but my family and I decided euthanasia was the humane thing to do. The staff was incredibly compassionate and walked us through the process at our pace. Although I’m incredibly sad to think about this day, I am forever thankful this is the vet we chose for our sweet boy’s senior care. When the time comes we will absolutely return to the vet.”

“This is the best veterinary hospital in the area, period. I have been to other vet hospitals in the area that pad the bills, recommend unnecessary treatments and tests, and charge for unnecessary office visits. I have seen none of these business practices at havelock animal hospital. What I have seen are some excellent veterinarians, techs, and a fantastic front office staff. Dr. Truskey just did surgery on my 14yo rescue dog. She is an excellent veterinarian and one I highly recommend.”

“I called, panicked, because my dog had a stick lodged in his mouth somewhere and was shaking, drooling, crying and in so much pain. The receptionists made me feel so much better with how calm and compassionate they were just over the phone. I explained to them how reactive my dog is when it comes to the vet. They allowed him to wait in the car until they were ready for him and when we came in side, they praised him just for walking in the door and getting on the scale. They spoke so gently to him. The nurse was amazing and when the doctor came in, she ignored him and allowed him to stay calm and sniff her when other vets have shown fear and tension towards him. (He’s a 75 pound, bully breed with nothing but muscle.) The doctor and nurse and even the techs were so amazing and I could tell that they really love and appreciate and respect animals and their boundaries. Even when he got growly and nippy, they didn’t even flinch or show fear, just love and wanting to help him. They expressed hope that this experience would help him not be so FEARFUL of the vet instead of calling him aggressive and mean like his actual vet does. I would give 10 stars if I could. They were incredible!”

“So very very grateful of the staff and doctors available! I was a panicking mess after taking my pup to the ER and him being dx with a femur fracture. I was given their name by my neighbor who’s cane corso had his leg repair after an mva. I messaged on fb on the off chance anyone was there who could help me!!They responded the same evening and the next day after sending xrays a game plan was made.Thank you so much Dr Hawkes for working on Kaiser as quickly as you did!! “I took my labs to Dr Westbrook for many yrs. He is a great vet. Sarah is a very compassionate about animals. When my Charcoal Labrador Retriever passed away it was very hard on me. She was a gift I received from a boyfriend when I returned from deployment. She was only 6 weeks old. My adorable little light charcoal puppy with blue eyes ~ Stormy Rain. I moved to Morehead City in 2013 and was in need of a local vet. That's when I heard great things about Dr Westbrook and his staff so I chose him to treat my Stormy. In 2014, he removed a large tumor from her neck. She recovered well and went on to live, until she passed away at 14 yrs old. I loved her dearly and was heartbroken when I lost her. She was my {Navy} baby girl ~ my first lab. Dr. Westbrook and his staff took care of everything. I received a sympathy card, with a special poem inside, from the staff at Newport Animal Clinic.”
