“Very loving, caring staff. They take extra time and care with your pet. I have used them for years and they have taken great care of my dogs. We had to have two of our dogs put down, several months apart, Dr. Kraus and staff handled it with great care They also gave my husband and I the loving support we needed. Both dogs had lived a long happy life because of the good care they had received from Newport Animal hospital.”

I have been to other vet hospitals in the area that pad the bills, recommend unnecessary treatments and tests, and charge for unnecessary office visits. I have seen none of these business practices at havelock animal hospital. What I have seen are some excellent veterinarians, techs, and a fantastic front office staff. Dr. Truskey just did surgery on my 14yo rescue dog. She is an excellent veterinarian and one I highly recommend.”

“The staff on the night of 9/3/2026 was INCREDIBLE. They were so kind, understanding, and easy to communicate with. I literally cannot imagine how hard their jobs are and they were still smiling at me and my dog, being kind to us, and being patient with my lil old dog. I know they were short staffed as well and still kept a good attitude. I was even offered a snack or drink since my wait was longer than expected. Yall be nice to these people, they’re doing some of the hardest jobs around. I’m grateful they are there to help me and my fur babies!”
“Got a last minute appointment due to my dogs foot swelling. They were VERY quick with the appointment. We were in and out in about 20 minutes. Price was ALOT better than I thought with X-rays. Everyone was super sweet. The techs were amazing with my girl who is nervous around new people!”

They did an excellent job explaining my options and I am so impressed by the level of communication and the speed in which they are able to schedule appointments. I also appreciate that they value my time - I have been to other facilities where I have had to wait over an hour to be seen and at Banfield, if they are overbooked, they will schedule me for a drop off appointment. “I took my labs to Dr Westbrook for many yrs. He is a great vet. Sarah is a very compassionate about animals. When my Charcoal Labrador Retriever passed away it was very hard on me. She was a gift I received from a boyfriend when I returned from deployment. She was only 6 weeks old. My adorable little light charcoal puppy with blue eyes ~ Stormy Rain. I moved to Morehead City in 2013 and was in need of a local vet. That's when I heard great things about Dr Westbrook and his staff so I chose him to treat my Stormy. In 2014, he removed a large tumor from her neck. She recovered well and went on to live, until she passed away at 14 yrs old. I loved her dearly and was heartbroken when I lost her. She was my {Navy} baby girl ~ my first lab. Dr. Westbrook and his staff took care of everything. I received a sympathy card, with a special poem inside, from the staff at Newport Animal Clinic.”
