About Blackbeard's Lodge
Blackbeard's Lodge is a charming, older hotel in the town of Ocracoke, offering a neat historical place to stay with a family atmosphere. Guests describe it as the kind of hotel you remember from childhood—homey, cozy, and laid-back, not a luxury resort. The grounds are kept up, and the staff is noted as the most friendly customer service ever, being very welcoming, accommodating, and communicative. The rooms are clean, though the place could use some love with a lot of small things wrong that would be quick fixes. It may not have all the accommodations of a major chain, like built-in USB chargers, but everything works well, including a particularly quiet and effective split A/C system. Amenities include a fun pool, a game room with air hockey, pool, and foosball, plus areas for board games. There is free coffee made as early as 4am, and free transportation to certain areas by cart. The hotel is deceptively large and interesting, with suites available, and it is near to all the great stuff on Ocracoke. Guests can rent a golf cart or bicycle to explore, relax on a porch swing or rocking chair, and note that pets are very welcome. Many visitors say they will certainly be back, having had a lovely and memorable vacation.

Neat historical place to stay. It is could use some love. A lot of small things wrong with it, that would be quick fixes but seems like they need better staff or a good handyman. Staff was friendly. Kids enjoyed playing air hockey in the game room. Pool was fun. We would stay again. But don’t expect anything nice.

A charming older hotel in the town of Ocracoke. Whether it's four or five stars for you depends upon your view of an older place. There aren't any built-in USB chargers, but everything works well. And I particularly appreciate the split A/C system; very quiet and effective.
