“The Coasties inspected the ferry to ocracoke today which lead to my significant other and I being stranded as all ferries were cancelled after ours. After a bit of panic someone at the ferry office contacted Jill and Sand Dollar and found they had a room. Most places were booked out for the annual pirate celebration and reenactment, but Jill had had some cancellations. She was such a sweetheart, one of the salt of the earth hosts that does their best even at a loss. She and her husband operate this second street motel that is perfect for a couple night on ocracoke easy to walk or golf cart to the whole island. It's centrally located and comes with normal maps and recommendations on sites. They've clearly been in the business awhile, but are local and not just transitionally staff passing through. They can tell you the local spots. The rooms are quite clean both bathroom and bedrooms. It's not a huge house on the water, but a good stop if you're visiting the outter banks.”

“Very friendly employee who gave me some awesome tips on how to maximize the room fragrance bowl I bought here. The clothes here are higher quality than most souvenir shops, and they had a good variety of souvenirs, as well as a small seasonal section.”

“Stayed here for 5 nights July into August..We had Apt 5 and it was so nice, cool and clean ...always an awesome stay! Love the history of the hotel...the quirkiness of the rooms and most of all the staff! ! They are the best! It's like seeing family year after year! And to Mr. Dan who is an amazing storyteller and historian. We will be back for our 10th year next year! Don't change anything!”
