Grocery Stores near Powellsville, NC

“First and foremost, seeing a brand new day. Only God knows if we will see another day.
I have been an avid shopper of Dollar General for years. Pricing has changed dramatically as well. We are paying higher prices for smaller things. The expiration date isn't lengthy anymore either.
I'm reaching out to your company to give you some feedback that needs to be addressed.

Date visited 5/16/26, 11:47 am. There was only one associated working and it was and had been crowded all day. Keep in mind quite a bit work Monday -Friday, and shop on Saturday or Sunday.
I have a serious issues with my visit.

1) Only 1 associate working????
2) Busy day
3) All the customers were very friendly and helpful and patient.
4) Our associate was YANNA, outstanding service under the conditions.
5) If you have an ounce of care, you should know Women are not SUPPOSED to be lifting anything heavy.
6) I know for a fact that your company doesn't pay it's employees like it should.
7) Working under all these conditions and not compensated for it, (Is Modern Day Slavery).
8) This beautiful family woman was going above and beyond, while being under all the pressure.
9) I purchased over $60.00 at your location and I allowed people to go in front of me. They only had a few things.
10) This location had no BAGS, who dropped the ball on ordering what is needed at the store???
11) Having no BAGS is not acceptable.
12) There were a few who didn't want to walk out of the store because they had a can of beer.
13) YANNA YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
14) Any raises in the near future????
15) Another thing I found about a few months ago that WALMART has there hands in Dollar Generals and many others. GREED!!!!!!

I let everyone in the store know that I was going to reach out and these conditions will CHANGE!!!!
I went to my vehicle with a basket of things that I purchased from your location. Thank goodness I keep totes in my vehicle along with thank you bags. I'm always picking up trash and it's not my trash. I was so elated, Thank you God, I can take these bags inside for Yanna. I also brought in all the baskets. I let her know girlfriend I got you. Here are some bags, and I already did the baskets left everywhere. I also sanitized the baskets and the handles. Covid is still with us and has mutated so many times I forgot.

In closing it's time to appreciate your employees and make sure they are equipped with everything they need.
Also please order some money markers. People have been distributing fake money. I bought some for myself and I keep one with me.

“So the first time I visited this grocery store was an amazing experience. Staff was nice and friendly!The store was clean, Shelves nicely stocked. Salad bar was nice and clean. And the Meats are beautiful. Not bruised like some of these other local grocery stores!”

“A very well managed Food Lion—best grocery shopping experience you’ll find in Ahoskie (compared to two competitors).Though modestly staffed, I will say these folks work as a team—as I see a good amount of employees looking out for one another, which translates into a good customer experience in the end.The manager (or at least who I deem is the manager) is often-present, and can be often seen walking the aisles greeting customers and talking with employees—and has a very good attitude. —again, translates to employees and ultimately to customers.Registers are always quick, and they don’t wait to open more during a rush, which is appreciated.My only critique is the produce section could be a little more robust. —but it’s not just this store that has a wanting produce section and I believe Ahoskie is a ‘last in line’ stop for deliveries as most produce in the area always seems to have a rough around the edges appearance. —it’s definitely NOT a symptom of management but supply chain and proximity (I believe).Of all the places available for groceries in Ahoskie, I’d recommend this store above all others.Beat the crowds by shopping between 7-9 AM…and for the widest selection of freshly shelved items.Nice work Food Lion of Ahoskie….you're a cut above in service, atmosphere, staff morale, professionalism, and management.”

“The cashier was very helpful and quick when looking up the price of the top soil I wanted to buy. I was also amazed to have a very helpful stocker come to the parking lot and help be load all the bags of soil I had purchased.”

“Recently visited this store, WOW is all I can say. They cleared out a counter. Cleaned up the clutter and spots where people can steal. It is so much better in there now. I will start visiting this store on a regular basis again, instead of driving to Powellsville, NC.”
