I had a terrible buying experience at Lake Norman Hyundai back in late March with add-on's that I didn't want that were added to my car loan that ended up being financed through Coastal Federal Credit Union. I was fed the BS that the bank wouldn't do the deal because I wasn't putting any money down and that I had negative equity. I contacted the loan department through Coastal and asked for their assistance to contact the dealership for me and I was told that someone did. The issue is that the owner of the dealership responded to a bad review from me outlining instructions on how to cancel the extended warranty and gap...I don't need instructions. I just want to know why I wasn't given any further assistance on this matter. I asked for my payment to be pushed out since I have an active case with Hyundai Corporate or until someone could get the dealership to sign the paperwork that I sent the owner to cancel these add-on's. I don't feel that Coastal is being very accommodating due to my circumstances. I definitely feel like more could have been done taking into consideration all the issues from the dealership and non-compliance through the warranty company.

Visited this branch this week and could not be more pleased! James Hollingsworth met with me. He was patient. I didn't feel hurried and he fully explained some items I had questions about without being condescending or assuming that I knew more than what I knew! He was very easy to talk to. In fact, everyone I met was friendly and efficient. Mr. Hollingsworth and Tiffany followed up on every single item mentioned. I would highly recommend their services to anyone.

Please just save yourself and go anywhere except coastal. This place will nickel and dime you for everything and they will also make large charges onto your accounts with no permission at all. I have a loan through them that is roughly 200 a month. It was doubled because they didnt have proof of insurance. (Keep in mind that i was never contacted about this) i got proof to them and they still wont lower my payment until i pay their premium(4 more months) they also wont give me a refund. Also keep in mind that my insurance on my car is barely 90 dollars so where did they find insure for me at 200 dollars a month thats just insane. These guys dont care about their customers. Withing two months of having my truck i have an extra 1200 in insurance fees all because they wanted to screw me.

There were several international fraudulent charges using my debit card (the only use of it since it was issued, using only the number (not the card itself) Finally a 6th charge I was notified about. I denied the charges, yet all were paid. To verify my identity, the team asked for the card number (that was used by the fraudulent transaction), and my address (public) and my type of car (public). No secure information was requested, putting all of my accounts at risk. Customer relations reached out to say that Coastal feels like they did their job. To wrap it all, they sent me a new debit card against my request. I filed a complaint with NCUA. They refunded the charges, but this process is NOT how a bank should handle it. Beyond that - Transfers take a week. Requesting lines of credit or other things took longer to even get a response than other vendors took to put money in my account. Truly the slowest of the slow, and not secure at all.

Approved for a mortgage with an 835 credit score and less than 3% debt. Went through underwriting and was approved, but continued to be racially profiled and disrespected. Coastal continued to create last minute obstacles to try and prevent from closing on my home. I did not appreciate the way that I was treated. I have had several accounts with Coastal for over 13 years and will be closing all accounts soon. I have choices Coastal and I chose ANOTHER lender with better options. I am happy in my home with another lender and was treated like royalty by the lender that I chose. Your team needs training and working from home does not work for your team. There are obviously distractions at home that prevent your team from being responsive and professional. No one will argue with me and disrespect me. I took my 835 credit score somewhere else and will soon take my money to another financial institution!

This bank is slower than molasses. I started a transfer from one bank to Coastal Credit Union. It was April 21st and its now the 26th and they still have not added the $500 to savings. . They constantly change their interest rates. I was going to switch from my present institution but after this experience, I am waiting for the funds to arrive so i can remove them back out and close up with them They don't answer questions. l asked last week about this and no response. I have resubmitted same question today. . No human response is not a good quality for any banking institution.

You dont even deserve one star you took a two car payments out of my account in on month and would not give it back. I called i begged did all i knew and everyone i talked with each told a different thing to do. Until I contacted the BBB did i get any response. A person Named Hannah was supposed to help me NEVER got a call from her. A person named Veronica said it would be in my account the next day she lied. It was not. This process should have taken 48 hours, this started on 3/09 as of yesterday still they have my money gaining interest wonder if i will ever get any of it. I just wonder if i will get any of it back. There is a word used for taking money without permission. Maybe the better business can help me cause Coastal isn't at all.

Poor customer service. We have been customers for over 20 years. We paid off our first house and wanted a loan for a second house, but they insisted we make a new account but were unwilling to return calls or actually create the account we tried to set up online. Better to go somewhere that actually wants customers.

This bank is incompetent beyond belief. I closed my account and now 10 days and still waiting for the check. Mistake after mistake after mistake. They will go out of business very soon. Inept management

I got denied a car loan from these clowns, lucky for me 4 other banks approved me for a auto loan, with very low interest rates . My credit score is in the upper 700, so the joke is on them!!! I can see why they have 1and 2 stars rating. Plus the interest rate was stupid high. A real joke of a credit union. You can rob somebody else, but I am glad that you did not approve me, because you are not going to get the chance to rob me with your high interest rates, LMAO!!!! Take it from me, search around before you get robbed by these criminals!!!

Fifth Third bank actually turned out to be incredibly problematic. I have been much impressed by the experience at Coastal since my first experience. The interest rates are the best I have found in Raleigh. I highly recommend CFCU!

Scary how quickly Coastal FCU is going downhill. Customer Service was already on the decline but has just accelerated since Covid-19. They've closed down multiple branches. Every time I've gone to use a teller at least one or more is out of order and there's a line of at least 4 or 5 cars. Today the entire system is down - you can't get online or call anyone. This has been going on for at least 2.5 hours - quite possibly longer.

I expect all banks and credit unions to process my money and give me access to my cash. That is a given. What makes them stand out is when they to go the extra mile for service request and Coast Credit Union fails miserably. I am an expat living in Ecuador. When I had a photo of a check to deposit Coastal wouldn't accept it because it was slightly over the $5,000 limit. I wrote customer service and explained that I was a long time customer with a high average balance currently living as an expat. It was difficult for me to get this check reissued and impossible to make a physical deposit, so could they raise the acceptable limit for this check? They wrote back and suggested I get the check reissued or make a physical deposit. I replied if they had actually read my email they would already know that those thing were not possible. Then I get a snotty retort that I READ THE EMAIL AND THOSE ARE THE RULES.. Not giving up, I obtained the CEO's email address and sent him my original information....long time customer....expat....and can you help me out here? Crickets. NO RESPONSE FROM THE BOSS. I eventually deposited the money into our Schwab account and will soon be moving all of our money there.

They give people the run around when attempting to sell their vehicle in which a lien is on with them. I live 2 hrs from nearest branch and can't get them on the phone and they said I must come into the branch to sell it. Do NOT do a vehicle loan with them or bank in general. They seem to put very little effort in what they do.
