“Sometimes you just wonder upon a place that you never imagined you would. I had heard for some time that this place prepared really good sandwiches and I wanted to find out for myself. So at lunch one day I went over and found out myself. I ordered a double steak hoagie with everything just like it’s on the menu. It was delicious. Look I’ve lived in the area all my life and most people like myself remember what we years ago called a “Joe Dial Hoagie “. This place makes one that resembles Joes. Joe’s was a sandwich shop in the middle of town that operated back in the eighties. They were known for making delicious subs of all types but the standard was the steak sub. Union Grill prepares theirs in a similar manner. Give it a try and I’m sure it will take you back to a time that all locals that remembers Joe and his family business will say this is just like his. Of course they prepare other excellent items but I just can’t get beyond the double steak sub with the red cherry peppers, onions, cheese and lettuce and tomatoes. I usually call first because sometimes they don’t always follow the scheduled operation hours. But I’m sure you will be delighted.”

“Hey, am I really giving four stars for gas station fried chicken??? Yep!!! We were traveling on the I-95 corridor and stopped for a night at a hotel. While we were there, the clerk referred us to a local pizza place for dinner and then told us about a "secret" chicken shop a few miles away... Minute Stop. She told us that it was completely addictive and once you eat it you will never want any other chicken. She may have been right. If you take the exit for the garish South of the Border attraction, head five minutes in the opposite direction and look for a gas station with tons of cars... that will be Minute Stop! You may have to wait a few minutes for a place to park or you can park on the side street. Walking in it looks like a typical gas station convenience store except it has a handful of booths and a long line for the chicken. Don't be afraid of the wait time because they move really fast! I ordered a four piece box with cole slaw and taters and it was $7.49 which was a deal! It was indeed one of the best pieces of fried chicken I have ever eaten. Perfectly golden and crispy, well seasoned (a bit on the salty side but not too much), and juicy. They cook so much chicken that it keeps coming out hot and fresh. For the sides, I got excited reading another review that said they have mac and cheese but they don't. Their cole slaw was good. The only reason I am not giving them five stars is because the taters were not crispy and not well seasoned. I was totally able to overlook this given the quality of the chicken! I also had a piece of coconut cream pie which was good too! If you ever happen to be cruising across the North and South Carolina border on 95, be sure to take this five minute detour for chicken. Even if you get it to go, it was amazing cold too!”
