Terrific location near waterfront dining. Owners are super friendly and responsive. Our room (Indian Oak Room) was spacious and well appointed. The shower was nicely done. We spent a lot of time in the pool, which was a highlight. The area around it felt like our own private oasis. Highly recommended!

If you go to Southport, this is the place to stay. We stayed in the Indian Oak Suite. It was incredible. The pool area is so relaxing and the location is grande. They provide a breakfast along with wine, crackers and cheese from 5-6. If you’re lucky enough, you will meet the owners who I would list as “salt of the earth.” I just can’t stay anywhere else when I return to Southport.

We had a wonderful stay at Captain Newton's Inn! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Gracie Room and loved the separate entrance and private balcony. The King bed was super comfortable and the portable AC unit worked beautifully. We loved the wine & cheese offering in the afternoon and the complimentary beverages available in the fridge. Our favorite part of our stay was the fantastic pool. Lisa and her team have taken such care to offer a beautiful pool space with many sitting areas, fans, and even floats you can use! The location is very convenient being a few minutes walk away from shopping and restaurants. A perfect spot for a weekend trip.

Absolutely perfect! Southport is one of the most picturesque places we've visited, and our stay at Captain Newton's Inn was the icing on the cake. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, and we picked a great one! Lisa and Hugh couldn't have been nicer, the home and rooms are elegant and welcoming, and the breakfast and afternoon wine/cheese just delightful. We also enjoyed relaxing in the pool on a hot summer day and using the bikes to check out the lovely neighborhoods. Our hosts gave us great recommendations for meals, and we dined at Edgewater 122 and Fishy Fishy Cafe, both fantastic. We also really enjoyed the sightseeing water tour; my husband and I learned so much about Southport, got to see dolphins, and really loved the views and the refreshing breeze. Would also recommend the Fort Johnston Museum/Visitor Center; it's a great place to get an overview of the amazing history of Southport.

My wife and I just wrapped up our stay at Captian Newton's Inn, and we loved it. We celebrated our 7-year wedding anniversary in the Indian Oak Room, which was the perfect size. The king bed was lovely, and the sitting area with a TV off to the side gave us plenty of space to spread out. The location of this inn is why we picked it because you are within walking distance of 90% of everything you'd need in Southport. This was our first time at an actual B&B together, and the whole stay was great. Lisa and crew were great! Go ahead and book your stay.

Our stay was wonderful! Lisa is an amazing host and the house is SO beautiful. We enjoyed our "babymoon" or last getaway as a family of two before our sweet little girl arrives. Everything is clean and the house is decorated very tasteful with lots of southern charm. We even had our maternity pictures done while staying and Lisa was so helpful. Also, the bed was amazing!! We will be back to stay again!

The Innkeepers, Lisa and Hugh, offer generous hospitality in a lovely historic home. The inn is warm and inviting, complete with porches and a backyard pool for relaxing. I especially enjoyed the bicycles for sightseeing around the village. The inn is only a block from the Riverwalk, which allows for convenient access to beautiful sunrises and sunsets across the water. Restaurants, shopping, museums, and entertainment are just around the corner. A walking tour through the tree-lined historic neighborhoods gives a glimpse into what a quieter style of living can do for the soul. Lisa can recommend tips for site-seeing, shopping, and dining. All the special touches at the inn make this a destination spot worthy of experiencing again and again. Just lovely!

What a wonderful inn. It's within walking distance to all that Southport has to offer. The room was fabulous with a nice breakfast offering. The host's are very welcoming and gracious. We will definitely be back sometime in the future.
