For over a quarter-century, the Historic Orchard at Altapass, as a non-profit organization, has diligently worked to “save the good stuff” — our Appalachian traditions, culture, and the land on which all was created. As a preservation orchard, we propagate the best heirloom apples possible while hosting activities for all ages that educate, enlighten, and entertain. Come read about our history, pick in-season apples, enjoy live music on our pavilion, or just hang out, surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’re not a commercial orchard—we offer experiences and a look into what makes this piece of the Blue Ridge memorable. Spend an hour or an afternoon with us at the family- and pet-friendly Orchard at Altapass.
Love coming to the apple orchard. Have made great memories here with the hayrides and stories of the great divide. The bee hive they have is fascinating and my grandson absolutely loves it, along with the monarch garden and butterfly exhibit
