“Super eclectic shop. There was all kinds of things from our elk hides to beautiful handmade baskets. All kinds of treats in jars of handmade goodies, which I bought a lot of. Also some clay pottery made from the locals that were amazing the design and intricacy. I should’ve took a bunch of pictures and I didn’t. It’s just one of those shops that has a little bit of everything.”

The family that owns/runs the shop is extremely welcoming and friendly! Shout out to the son who rang us up with such speed and accuracy! I highly recommend this as a stoping point on anyone’s trip to Cherokee! Thanks for my flying monkey!!”

“As Christian book stores become less common, this is the best one I know of. The only other store I know of is in Mount Airy, NC. One thing that makes it special is the prayer request book, which you can write yours in.”

“When I visit my family in Sylva, I always make a trip to the Golden Carp. I bought two lamps from them a few years ago and they make my master bedroom suite very special. They were shipped to Florida with no problem. The owners are wonderful and have great taste in home decor.Looking forward to visiting again in the very near future.”

“Cute gift shop on the mountain. The area looks wonderful, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The gift shop itself is well maintained and clean, it sells fudges, ice creams, and other gifts. The staff is friendly and helpful. This place has a clean restroom that can be used.”

“This little shop was the highlight of our day trip the Cherokee today! Normally we buy a little wedding vase or tchotchke each time we come from another store in town but we explored the "less busy" side of the area and found Village Merchant. Walking in, I spotted the local art by Luzell of area scenes hand painted on saw blades, jugs, rocks, leaves, and even a pair of boots and couldn't get farther into the little store without deciding what to take home! My husband and I probably spent 30 minutes in that corner of the store debating on the piece to purchase.. we ended up taking home a long saw, three smaller circular blades, and I ran back before checking out and grabbed a small glass bottle. The artist's sister (I believe they both own the store?) chatted with us and was super pleasant! We unfortunately did not get her name this time but we are already planning on coming back up to grab a few more pieces for our home!Thank you for the nice chat today and we hope to see you in Blue Ridge, GA, sometime!”

“Great selection of cool souvenirs with pretty reasonable prices. As a big Jeep fan myself, my wife and loved the Jeep shirts. The store is clean and we'll organized and you don't feel too cramped. They do have a no photography rule that I broke but it's my job as a Google advisor to let people know all the cool stuff they have.”

“They have a wonderful supply of private label jams, relishes, jellies, apple butter, etc. We bought probably 8-10 different varieties. They also have craft and souvenir type items for decoration and keep sakes. We will definitely be back to this store in Maggie Valley.”
