McKay's Winston-Salem is far more than a bookstore. It is a vast destination for used books, music, movies, video games, board games, toys, puzzles, electronics, comics, journals, and camera gear. Visitors describe the experience as a treasure hunt, where you never know what you will find, with new items appearing constantly. Many spend hours exploring the large and excellent selection. The store encourages recycling media by offering trade-in values, noted as decent for store credit. While some feel prices can be high and trade-ins low for cash, others highlight excellent prices overall, including free bins of books at the entrance. It is a favorite place to relax and browse at a leisurely pace, appealing to a broad audience. For many, it is an absolutely amazing and incredible stop, worth traveling to visit and return to repeatedly.
I can't believe I just found this gem of a store but now that I have I will visit often! If you're a book lover, you will love this! Unbelievably cheap prices on some great books, movies, puzzles, you name it! Plus the 'free book bins' in the front are amazing. I found so many things!
