About Emergency Food Pantry
The Emergency Food Pantry is a busy place that provides food to folks in need. It is a wonderful thing for the community. People can get a food basket every other month by showing a photo ID and proof of address. The process has minimal fuss, with a fast check-in. Customers receive a healthy sized boat load of groceries, including gluten free and non-gluten free products, though basket sizes depend on household size. The program helps people until food stamps come or until the next paycheck. The staff and volunteers are amazing, friendly, helpful, respectful, and kind. They offer smiles and warm words, making people feel comfortable, safe, and without judgment. They are doing the best they can to help. There are a few important notes. Business hours are split and vary, so checking hours is necessary. During colder seasons, people must bundle up as they wait in an outside line to register via an intercom. There can be a short wait. Also, it is important to check dates on items like dairy and bakery products, as they can be close to or past the expiration date; bakery items sometimes arrive moldy. Despite this, the service is very beneficial and a critical resource for the community.
