Came here for a wedding, and it’s basically just all cons.
1.) There was an agreed upon block price for our wedding party which the hotel did not honor for anyone, snobbishly charging everyone about $930 for two nights
2.) Everything you see, hear or touch is an additional charge, including a roll of of toilet paper beyond the single dollar store brand one placed in your room
3.) This place is a hidden charge oasis, if they tell you something costs $100, prepare for your card to be charged at least $130 after the hotel is done adding things to it
4.) The food at the wedding was the only good thing I ate here, the $100 breakfast I had to pay for the first day was the equivalent of runny eggs at Dennys
5.) EVERY room in our bridal party was dusty, covered in hair and smudges, and smelled as if it hadn’t been cleaned in days
6.) The coffee in the lobby costs $5 per cup
7.) Car alarms in their garage go off all night and nothing happens til you call the front desk (who only answers on the 7th attempt) and force them to go deal with it
8.) The prepubescent valet boys cannot drive a stick (any of the 17 of them standing out there)
9.) No outlets by the beds, barely working tv in the room, the ac did work
10.) You can stay at a Days Inn and get more amenities, at a fraction of the cost. Oh and Days Inn is probably truthful of the cost, this place is not. You will be told one price at check in, one price at check out and then have you card billed for something astronomically higher.
Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this cheap gimmick of a hotel. The investors and owners of this place are clearly the same type of scummy bottom feeders who own 2 star apartment buildings and charge $2000 a month in rent. It is a gimmick, it’s built for show and it’s built for deceit.
The staff is kind but that might be the single only positive aspect this otherwise deplorable business. The owner(s) of this hotel should be frankly embarrassed of this clown show, but I’m sure they’re swimming in the overpriced charges they collect from people to much to care.
The worst “luxury” hotel I have ever stayed in, the metro at the 9 is a failure of an otherwise interesting hotel idea. Bravo to its dimwitted investor and owner group.

I came here for a wedding reception and the space was beautiful. We went to The Vault and had drinks. The space is an old bank transformed into a bar. The drinks were great. The bartender was amazing and professional. There were light appetizers served: caprese salad and chicken skewers, and they were great but were not typical menu items. There is plenty of seating: so stools, booths, couches, wing back chairs, etc, and places to duck off and have a private moment. It was very mob- like and classy: lots of leather, studded chairs, and leathery pillows interspersed with antiques from the old bank. It really is impressive. The rooftop bar is beautiful, too. Drinks were expensive, and the crowd was younger, but the views of Cleveland were stunning, and there was lots of private seating and high-priced bar food. A great date night place for a night cap. Everything was clean, especially the bathrooms. This is an opulent place. Lots of hard wood and marble details. Big but comfortable. I would definitely go back!!

Pros:
• Hotel room was large and had romantic and comfortable amenities
• Staff was friendly and welcoming
• The Centro food was tasty and served quickly. Staff was excellent (we went for breakfast.. coffee was great!)
• Valet parking was 100% worth it and there were no issues
• Building was cool and fancy.. lots of things to explore and try
• Conveniently located and within walking distance of lots of restaurants and bars
Cons:
• Hotel room was tidy, but not very clean (hair in tub which seemed like dog hair, a fingernail and hair in the sink, looked dusty and not vacuumed). Disclaimer: I am a very clean person, so I’m positive that most people wouldn’t notice these things. I was just hoping that the hotel would be spotless given how expensive it was.
• Bathtub was confusing to use and leaked. No bubbles or soap provided.
• This goes with almost any hotel, but there were many snacks, drinks, and alcohol available, but it was $150 if you consumed any
• TVs were very old and slow, but we didn’t mind too much
• Garden of Eden looked cool, but was packed due to a wedding event, so there were no seats. To be fair, we only tried going one of the two nights we stayed.
• No additional fridge or room in the mini-fridge. No microwave.

We booked two rooms here on August 24th. Once I returned home, I found a $125 charge for the honor bar in the room. I called three days after our stay to inquire about the charge and informed them that we did not use the honor bar. They said they would open a case and we would hear back via email within 72 business hours.
Two weeks later, we had not heard anything from them. I called again and spoke with a manager, who informed me that they had "lost" the information they had gathered and would need to retrieve it again. She mentioned that they had evidence that the bottle was taken from the room. I pointed out that there were multiple people in our room (bellman, housekeeping), and we had no way to prove that someone else did not take the bottle. The manager then stated that she had a picture showing the bottle was open. I stopped her at that moment and reminded her that she had previously told me the bottle was missing from the room. She then informed me that she could no longer assist me with this matter and that I could escalate it further.
That same day, I spoke with customer service, and they opened another case. After not receiving a response from Marriott for ten days, I called back on 9/26 and was informed that the hotel had responded, stating they had photo evidence of the open bottle and would not be removing the charge. I have yet to see this photo, have yet to receive a single response from the hotel themselves, and I highly recommend finding somewhere else to stay or asking for the honor bar to be removed from your room if you choose to stay here. This entire situation has been extremely shady.

I recently stayed at the Metropolitan at The 9 and had an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making check-in a breeze. The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with all the modern amenities you could need. We particularly appreciated the openness of the room and the stunning view of downtown Cleveland from our window!
The location of the hotel was ideal, close to all the major attractions in downtown. They have so many options for food and drinks and stopped at all of them. Happy Hour drinks on the rooftop at the Garden of Eden, predinner cocktail at Ledger Bar (best lobby bar you’ll ever visit). Then it was dinner in Centro, highly recommend the short rib! Finally a night cap in The Vault, the actual Cleveland Trust vault from the 1930’s. Such a cool vibe.
What really stood out was the excellent service. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay.
I would highly recommend The 9 to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay. I can’t wait to come back!

Do not use their valet!!
Did not stay at the hotel but parked our car in their valet before having a nice dinner at their restaurant Centro. When we returned to pick up our car at the end of the evening, we found that our car had been gone through and a wallet and cash stolen from the car. The valley services contracted out by the hotel. Calls to the valet company get no results, no return calls. DO NOT USE THEIR VALET! Now, seeing that similar things have happened to other people, never dreamed I’d have to read reviews about a valet service at a nice hotel or restaurant!

We had a great stay; the staff was very friendly and check in was a breeze. Our room was clean and spacious. Centro was a great experience; the Tuscan chicken was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back, and would highly recommend.

Terrible experience here I had a work meeting with my fellow coworkers and when I went to use the bathroom security came in after me and accuse me of pissing on the toilet seat screaming at me to never come back to the hotel. Definitely won’t recommend this place to anyone.

I absolutely love the nine bar. I love the vault in the garden of Eden. Everyone at the front desk is always so polite. I recently went to the restaurant for the first time for our friends birthday and the food was phenomenal. This is a great place if you want to get drinks

Bed was not made, stained sheets, and mattress cover. I called and asked that they are replaced but housekeeping did not. Could not open my room as the battery died in the door. It seems other customers experienced similar issues. Waiter in Centro restaurant was rude. For the price, and lack of service do not stay there.

I'm not impressed. For the price, the hotel could have been cleaner, and the team members could have been nicer. I typically love Marriot specialty hotels, but this one was not worth the price.
