About St. Thomas More Newman Center - Home of Buckeye Catholic
The St. Thomas More Newman Center, located across from The Ohio State University, serves as the Catholic campus ministry for students, faculty, and staff. Under the leadership of Bishop Fernandes, the center has undergone renovations that enhance its architectural and liturgical appeal, making it a vibrant spiritual home for students. The center embodies the New Evangelization, focusing on sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the university community. While some reviews highlight concerns about inclusivity for non-students, many students appreciate the shift towards a more traditional and faith-driven environment, fostering a supportive community. The center is primarily designed for students, allowing them to connect and grow spiritually with their peers. Events and services at the Newman Center are welcoming, with efforts to include diverse faith perspectives, as seen in interfaith gatherings. Overall, the St. Thomas More Newman Center is recognized as a foundational part of the religious community in the University District, offering a space for worship and fellowship. Its commitment to serving students and fostering their faith journey continues to resonate within the community, making it a significant destination for those seeking spiritual growth at Ohio State.
What a complete 180° transformation of the Newman Center since I attended 30 years ago as a grad student!!! They were way off the rails back then. Now as my daughter starts grad school at OSU, I'm ecstatic to see it back on track. I'm so grateful for the Bishop's wisdom and all who played a role in the changes.

God Bless Bishop Fernandes, I believe under his guidance, the light of Christ will spread among the students here at OSU. There was a need for change and he has proven effective in his decision making.
