“I am old, 78, and I need to keep my strength up, stay active, and interested in life. This YMCA meets my needs by offering organized physical training through a variety of modes, and with as much professional assistance as I require.”

“I lived at the children’s home about 35 years ago. Back then it was ran by the original owner Barb (I think that’s her name). Her daughters worked there too.I ran away from this place so many times I can’t count. I will say, it wasn’t horrible. It wasn’t great. But not the worst I’d seen. I think one of the things that really got to me was the only thing for us to do on most days was eat. The food was great. Homemade real food that we helped cook. But there was nothing else for us on a regular basis. We did occasionally take trips. I remember Barb taking camping and going to Jellystone Park and somewhere with caves. It was cool.I also remember Barb being so angry she kicked a door down. Still, it was a decent safe place to be.I can only imagine that it’s gotten better..at least I hope it has.”
