Book Stores in Grand Rapids, OH

“Great place! A hidden gem with an eclectic selection of amazing books! The icing on the cake was the full sized battle cat statue that we could sit on and take pictures! The owner was so nice to our large party of kids and adults! This place is a must visit!”

“The good: The shop is very cute and takes up 2 floors. Its definetely a hidden gem if you are a vintage/antique book lover or historian. Also if you like to collage or scrapbook they have a huge magazine collection. The have a small seating area on the second floor with board games/etc. It seems like a very cozy spot to hang out.

The bad: The service was friendly, but but not overly helpful....the woman working was kind and did chat with me/ ask if she could help me find anything, but when I told her what I was looking for she was not able to direct me to any specific options because its a bit unorganized. I also felt like I was annoying her a little with my questions about pricing; they have A TON of interesting/antique art on the walls and collectibles, but most of the time there is no way to tell if its for sale or not. Some things are priced and some aren't, which is kind of odd for a retail shop. The pieces of art I saw that did have a price tag seemed a bit steep IMO (like $200-$400 for prints).

I went on a weekday around noon and no one else came in the store during the 2 hours I was there. I was very interested in buying a couple of pieces of art and the worker could not give me a price or sell them to me, and told me that I would need to go across the street to ask someone else working at a different store (this store was already closed for the day), instead of calling someone to get a price for me. The stores must be owned by the same person... either way, if I have to go to multiple stores and ask multiple people for a price on something, and feel like im begging to buy it, im probably not going to end up buying that thing out of frustration. It's unfortunate because I was open to spending more than I did, but ended up only purchasing one item.

It's definitely worth the visit if you are only looking for books/magazines, but dont get your heart set on the art you see on the walls because you might not be able to take it home with you.”
