We love everything about Universe Bridal and Prom. This is our third trip, and we wouldn’t want to shop anywhere else. They have the best selection, super reasonable prices, and wonderful staff. We never feel rushed, and they always make the girls feel like a million bucks. I especially love their honesty, when it comes to giving their opinion on multiple gowns that you’re torn between. We will be returning later this year for homecoming, and in the years ahead. Thank you!!

We bought my daughter's first homecoming dress here with no issues. We came back to buy her first prom dress on 4/20/2024. When my daughter ( 14 year old plus size girl) was trying on the last dress I caught 2 employees, Nash and I don't know the name of the other, making disgusted faces and laughing at my daughter and making rude statements about her in the dress. They were out right body shaming and making fun of her. My daughter seen and heard what they were saying and started bawling. She rushed back to the fitting room and took the dress off. Mind you she loved the dress and the price was way more then the budget we set for her but we were going to make an exception because of how happy it made her. She already struggles with body image so it was great to see her in something that made her feel good about herself. While taking the dress off Nash stood right outside the curtain and eves dropped on my sister and I trying to calm her down. So he was very aware that my daughter witnessed him making fun of her. My daughter went with her second option and we proceeded to check out. During check out Nash was visibly nervous and struggled to check us out. My daughter was still crying. Because my daughter was so embarrassed she refused to spin the wheel for a free item and left the store. Nash had to go get the owner because he was having trouble checking us out. Once we paid my sister told Nash in front of the owner...." I hope you know that you made a little girl cry because you were laughing at her in the last dress she tried on." The owner immediately stated... "These 2 are the best employees I have." At that point my sister said nothing else and walked out. While I waited for my receipt and the dress, Nash continued to be defensive talked over me while I was trying to address the problem with the owner and he even talked over the owner. I informed the owner that I heard and seen what they were doing myself. Because I was upset I walked out of the store without the dress and Nash very rudely told me to have a nice day but never gave me the dress.....they made no attempt to give me the dress. Once outside I realized I didn't get the dress and my sister went in to get it. In less then a minute they had already put the dress in the back. My sister asked for the dress and Nash went to get it and tossed it at her. If Nash and the other girl working that day are the owners best employees then she either has low standards or is completely fooled by the employees. Most of the dresses were either torn, busted zippers, or broken straps but we managed to find find 2 options that werent. We were recommended to this place by a former Miss Maryland whom works with my sister. Once we told her about what happened she fully intends to spread the word amongst the pageant circuit. The situation could have been handled so much better. They could have simply said it was a miscommunication, explained to my daughter they weren't making fun of her and all would have been fine. They chose not to. It most definitely wasnt a miscommunication though but it would have rectified the situation. Teen girls already have low self esteem. If you have a teen daughter and want them to feel even worse about their body imagine. Then by all means please shop here. Nash would be more then willing to make fun of and body shame your daughter. His overall attitude gave the impression that he thrives off of negative customer interactions and making fun of children. I wish him and the other girl the best in life and truly hope they never have to experience what they did to my daughter, but nobody gets far in life treating people the way they treated my daughter. To add not a single soul helped my daughter zip a dress....get a dress, nothing except stand by and make fun of her! The owner was in the office the entire time, we never even seen her until there was an issue. This places lies and has very very low moral standards. Seems to be ran by high schoolers and the owners just go tuck their head in the sand.

UPDATE:The manager reached out and is getting us a new dress. She also profusely apologized for the staff member who did not treat us well and refused to have this taken care of.I will update the star rating to reflect this.Got my maid of honors dress here. The staff measured her and then ordered the dress. Came to pick it up and it's too small. We ask if she can exchange this size for another one and the girl states yea no problem. She re-measures my MOH and so does someone else to ensure the sizing is correct this time. We go up to the register to make sure everything is good to go. Then they inform us that we have to purchase a whole new dress! No refund or anything on the original dress we purchased that THEY messed up the sizing on. We don't just have a few hundred dollars lying around to purchase another dress when they are the ones who measured her the first time and messed it up. Avoid this place, they don't care about their customers. My MOH left in tears and is stuck with a dress that doesn't fit and a list of seamstress that could "hopefully" fix it.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is so scummy! We went in with a group of 4 (BRIDE, 2 MOH, MOB) The appointment started off great, we all enjoyed the laidback feel of choosing dresses for the bride to try. The bride tried on 20+ dresses, and the 2nd dress she tried ended up being “the one”. We all had “our special cry” and it was great up to that point. The worker then advised us that she would like to get the brides measurements, so she takes the tag out of the dress which had a $1600 price tag. She then returns to our group and replaces the price tag which now shows a price of $2100. We question her and say that the tag that she just took away showed a price of $1600, and says that someone must have switched the tags, and accuses us of doing it. Mind you, the 2nd dress that was tried on was placed in a different fitting room to be “saved” as the favorite, so no one other than the worker was in there. She then says “oh, is it out of your budget now? Well we do offer payment plans”. Completely dismissing the fact that she just changed the price tag right in front of is. We explained that we could not have changed the tag (which she knew already) and then proceeded to tell us that “we do not negotiate our prices for any reason” and walked away. We were not asking for the price to be negotiated, we were asking to receive the dress for the price that it was originally marked as. So if you decide to waste you time here, just beware of the sketchy workers. Luckily we were able to find the same dress at a different bridal shop after calling around, and will happily give them our $1600 instead.

We had to make an appointment, which we did, but I am not sure why. My daughter and I were greeted and assigned a dressing room. On the way to the dressing area a stylist asked my daughter if she had a style in mind. My daughter showed her a picture and the stylist said she had a dress similar and she went and pulled it. That was basically the end of any assistance or help. I helped my daughter into the dress. I carried the train of the dress out to the mirrors. Then I waded through rows of dresses to try and find others for my daughter to try on. We finally gave up, my daughter got dressed and we left and made an appt with another wedding boutique for another day. This is not our families first wedding. Unfortunately the boutique my older daughter bought her wedding dress from is closed, but this is not how picking out your wedding dress is supposed to go. I will say their pricing looked reasonable. But the service was not good. Their lack of attention and care really ruined the outing.
