Xenia YMCA, this is supposed to be for the community, but it has some of the nastiest employees. I was paying for a service I wasn't using so I decided to downgrade my service. Went to the Fairborn YMCA, received a totally professional response but they couldn't help me. Go to the Xenia YMCA and received huffing and puffing, and the dropping of the hand on the desk. Made me feel like I didn't something wrong.

Everything within the gym is perfect but my only annoyance is the doors (Past 9pm) you cannot open the doors to get out and must wait to be let out which is honestly creepy! I love this location because of convenience but can’t this be fixed? Like what if someone is working out and a personal emergency comes up and can’t get out fast enough??

I loved the pool it's just the workers the front desk is so mean and so strict and they made my child put on his shirt so he can take it off a minute later to go into the pool and when i said have a nice day and they give me a rude look recommend Huber and fairborn for nicer workers

My apologies- Google says “Open 24 hours” until you hit the drop down menu; I assumed it was Open 24 hours every day.

Its a great facility when you can actually use it. Would be nice if it was a true 24-hour facility like its advertised as. One of the only times for me to work out is Sunday evenings, and I can't do that because of their hours on Sunday. Even though there are still people working and having leagues going on, why are people not able to utilize the facility if you still have people working? Makes no sense to me.

This review is specifically for the child watch today (1/3/2024 @1pm) I didn’t get the girls names that were working. But they were phenomenal. I brought in my 3 month old son, screaming, I couldn’t calm him and I was having a horrible morning as a new mom, ready to cry. And they still took him and allowed me to workout just long enough to clear my head and restart my mood. He was still crying when I picked him up but those girls helped me so so much. They were great!!

Don NOT sign kids up for lesson especially swimming lessons, they will NOT communicate to you about your child.
They treated me with much disrespect and was unfriendly to my son who has ADHD.
The showers where always nasty, there was bushy hair in one shower and soap scum all over another. Never going here again!

The facility itself is very nice. I had a problem with the child watch experience my first time and don’t think I will try again. There were 2 staff and only one other kid, so I didn’t think it was a big deal to write my phone number on a sticky note and get my account updated with both parent’s phone number (this is how you are contacted in case of emergency, illness, crying, etc.). They told me other times of the day there can be over 30 kids and I wouldn’t have relied on a sticky note substitution if that had been the case due to shift changes, breaks, or more staff present who may not be able to coordinate easily during a busy time.
The person at the front desk first wanted to remedy the situation by changing the phone number on the account to mine, but I insisted each parent needs to be able to be contacted easily depending on which parent drops off the kids. She said “the system” wouldn’t allow that and that they would have to put a note in on the iPad in the child watch area. I told her they had sent me to the front desk, and the back and forth continued until she finally said, “You know what? I’ll take care of it,” took my phone number and said it had been taken care of.
I asked the child watch staff to send a test message upon picking up the kids to make sure everything was working now. Neither parent received the 2 test messages they sent, and they don’t input a phone number, “the system” automatically sends it to the phone number on file.
I returned to the front desk to let the person know that our issue had not been resolved and I had spent time in the facility under the impression I could be contacted, when that was not the case. The front desk person was clearly perturbed that this was an issue for me, and said they’d not been able to go into the child watch to make the correction because they were the only person on duty at the front desk.
Being unreachable and the amount of hassle and resistance involved in becoming reachable should my kid need me is a safety concern and not acceptable to me. Apparently all the Greater Dayton YMCAs use the same system that either doesn’t have basic capabilities, or on which the staff are insufficiently trained. Either way I’m not comfortable with it and don’t think I should be made to feel like the “difficult” patron for politely but persistently insisting this is not negotiable.

My son and I have been a member of the Y for about 10 years now. My son has grown up with the Y. He's played a lot of their sports. Mainly basketball. We've never had any serious issues with the childcare, gym or pool areas. I think people complain way too much about the stupidest stuff. It's very relaxed and I, as a woman, feel comfortable working out. I have never witnessed men being loud or kids running around etc. I think the child care hours actually need to be extended. They're not open on Fridays which is bizarre. The showers and locker rooms could use continuous cleaning/scrubbing for sure. I wish the bathrooms/toilets had those paper toilet seat covers as well. Not sure why cleanliness isn't a priority to other members. I like how there's spray bottles to clean the equipment. Overall, I don't have much to complain about and have always been satisfied with the Xenia Y.
