Lantern Lit ghost tour. The guides were excellent. A lot of great ghost stories and history lessons and beautiful old buildings.

Zoar is always delightful. A visit to this gentle, sleepy town is like traveling back in time. There are many historic buildings that can be toured including Number One House, the bakery, the Zoar Store, the tin shop and there are some quaint small businesses. Donny's Tavern is a great lunch stop (good, not cheap). Walk through town and the garden to find a little quiet and peace. In 2023 attended the ghost tour, which meets at the Zoar Store. It was a beautiful night to walk around and hear stories, some better than others. Cookies and coffee ended the tour.

Quaint little historical utopian community. Very interesting to see the old houses and buildings in repainted colors and the gardens are a sight to behold.

The best thing about the Zoarians: they dug the Ohio-Erie canal to pay off their land. Otherwise it's a historic-kitschy ghost town. Ach!

I love everything about Zoar! Great little village to explore. If you're one sensitive to spirits you're going to feel them here!

A well preserved village that has guided tours with displays and information in various buildings or you can just walk the grounds yourself. The garden area was very well tended with many different types of flowering plants. You can find souvenirs in the Zoar Store and this is also where you purchase tickets for the tour.

We had a wonderful time. We started late due to some scheduling confusion (the tour guide wasn't told that she had a tour group). But, once we got started we found our guide to be super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about every detail of early Zoar life, it's settlement, and later development and growth. We could easily have spent even more time in the museum examining the many artifacts.

We love history and historic sites and this village was very nice to visit. The museum guides we met were very good and we learned a lot. The exhibits are well done, the garden beautiful. We made a purchase in the well stocked Zoar Store. Our only disappointment was we wished they had a historic restaurant in the village serving 1800s style foods. That would have completed the Tableau for us.

This Village is absolutely gorgeous like stepping back into time. I would live to go back during Christmas SeasonThe buildings and houses are beautiful to walk around. There is no cost to walk around. Nothing was open but that was okayThe history of this location is amazing

Great step into Moravian/German history. Wonderful look at daily life and spiritual strength in a hostile region. It is worth a stop familiarizing one with the spread of Christianity in America.

I love going through this picturesque town that was built in the 1800s and was originally next to the Erie Canal. While the canal no longer exists, you can take some of the trails and see parts of the original Locke's. The town was originally built in a flood zone and the Germans who had settled there originally didn't want to abandon the town, so they painstakingly moved the entire town and all the homes to higher ground. There is the original bakery as well blacksmith shops which are used to this day.I highly recommend adding it either as a day trip or a side trip. While the hotel is closed permanently, there are beautiful bed and breakfasts in the town and just around the corner (literally!).

Interesting state historical living history center. You can check out things at your own place (outside of buildings and garden), but to really get the feel and the history of the place, you should take one of the excellent tours! It'll finish at the bakery, and you'll want to save your appetite for that! You'll need about 2 hours, so go and spend the day there and have some fun! Handicap accessibility may be limited...

It was nice but because of covid you can not watch the black Smith, go into the dairy, greenhouse or magazine and they closed the bakery before our group got to it. So all of the more interactive parts are shut down. The gardens are beautiful though and the museum and gallery were nice. I just felt like our tour was shorted.
