It is only appropriate that I write this review on 211 Day! CSC does amazing work in our community and has been for 78 years. It was originally formed to bring social agencies together to communicate, identify issues of shared concern, and explore ways to work cooperatively to better serve people in need. Their vision is for Tulsa to be empowered to ignite opportunities and eliminate disparities for all people. Their mission is to confront challenges to health, social, education and economic opportunities, and strategically advance effective community-based solutions. They do this through research, planning, networking, and mobilizing resources. One of the things they do is run the 211 help line. Anyone can call be connected to the resources and services they need including help with food, clothing, utility/rent bills, housing, health services, employment and even crisis lines. It is a wonderful service for those organizations that are providing help. Help is also offered in other languages including Spanish, Zomi, and Burmese. CSC is a great resource when it comes to accessing demographic info, economic trends, and culture to provide leadership for best shaping a historically different new era ahead that will offer a high quality of life for Oklahomans. They use this information to implement an overall prevention strategy for enhancing human development focused on investing in people, enabling more individuals to care for themselves and their families, and to contribute to a positive civic health. Their main investment areas are: data & Information, education, health, housing & homelessness, reduced incarceration, and veterans. As a catalyst seeking and driving solutions to meet critical needs, they serve their mission through these five functions: Communicator, Convener, Connector, Creator, and Capacity-Builder.
