Property was very clean and staff were super friendly and very accommodating. They kept the pool open for us longer and also let us use the restaurant area to gather with our team. Would highly recommend!!

Although grateful for the fact that they made an exception for my dog, which is bigger than the accepted weight limit, and having paid an extra $25/day dog fee, during our three night stay they have never made the beds, nor vacuumed the room and only once emptied the garbage bin. So I’m left wondering why I was charged the daily dog cleaning fee if the room wasn’t even cleaned once during our stay…The restaurant in the hotel is permanently closed and there was no vending machine on site.Stay away from it.

This is a perfectly located hotel which just 20 min from Goodrich, Grand bend cities and its beaches. Just 2.5 from Sarnia and 1.5 from London. It is a decent hotel with good management and excellent service. Price in mid of July was decent for two Queens beds 200 dollars per night. The hotel offer set of activities including volleyball ?, basketball ?, playground , indoor swimming pool and even sauna ?♀️ and big place for ice cream ? and restaurant but ( not all were working at our time). You can smell the Ashwood trees everywhere you go inside hotel.Rooms: Room size was good and Queen bed were good too.

Location is what you are paying for. Accodimations are what they are. To sleep change and go again. Staff is great ? we had an issue where we brought it to the OPP, outside intruders.Nearby activities: Everything is about 20 minute's away which is fine.

I'm a huge supporter of independent, local businesses and have never before written a negative review of a hotel or Inn, but my young son and I were made to feel like an inconvenience at the Ashwood. We received a text saying that contactless check-in (due to Covid, even though it's March 2023), meant the door to our room would be left unlocked with the key inside. Given that this is a pitch-dark country roadside motel (under the guise of the name "Inn") , I felt this was creepy. Anyone aware of the check-in system could have been waiting inside the room. I'm a woman, and was travelling with my child. As we approached the suite, we noticed a huge can of cigarette butts perched on the windowsill. The door from outside turned out to be locked, so we entered through the deserted lobby. We found the inside hallway door to our room unlocked. The outside door was jammed. On our second trip though the lobby to bring our luggage inside, two women emerged from behind the front desk (from what appeared to be their home) and announced (in a friendly way) that we'd need to come and go via the outside door to our room because the front desk and entrance were closed 8pm-8am. It was around 8:45pm at the time.I explained that the door to our room was jammed, but they did not offer to check it or put us in a different room, even though we appeared to be their only guests for the night.Next, we discovered what appeared to be a blood stain on the quilt, right where a person would sit. Because we'd been informed in no uncertain terms that the front desk was closed, we simply removed the quilt and turned up the heater, which was extremely loud and smelled of hot dust. There were no extra blankets to be found. When I politely brought these issues to the Inn's attention at check-out, the response was defensive, implying I should have contacted the front desk or done a better job of searching for blankets (apparently housed in the TV cabinet, the drawers of which were also jammed -or painted- shut). Apparently, everything is the customer's fault at the Ashwood. You're probably thinking, why didn't you just cut your losses, run screaming from this apparent dive and find a good, safe hotel? The answer is, freezing rain.I recognize that it's low season in a beach town, but under no circumstances in any season would I be okay with finding a stain like this on a bedspread, with being made to feel unsafe and unwelcome from the moment of arrival or with having to deal with broken/jammed door locks. Before leaving, we walked past the advertised indoor pool, out of pure curiosity. It was out of order, and the hallway leading to it smelled strongly of mold and mildew. The Inn had every opportunity to make this situation right for us. I provided honest, polite feedback. Instead, they took no responsibility, offered no refund, discount or even future stay (as most respectable hotels would have done). My follow-up text (still polite) went undelivered (I assume my number was blocked - they already had my money). This is why I'm choosing to post a public review.Do not be fooled by the cute, beachy-vibe photos of this place. Apart from the stain, it was relatively clean, comfortable and quiet. However, the service we received was nothing short of abysmal. The baby muskrat was cute and harmless, though.

Amazing Indian reaturant!Never thought we'd find some place to have Indian dinner that night. We went to Grand Bend & everything was closed on our way back on a Sunday. Then my friend googled for restaurants that were open & we found this. As it was in the search results, it's worth the "top-rating".Maintained by Indian family.I'm writing this not just because I'm also an Indian national but was spell bound by the reception, ambience, cleanliness and decenct atmosphere.Well maintained & great interior decoration.Has: Indoor & Outdoor SeatingWashroomsParty stageBar (Indian Kingfisher Beer*)This place is blessed to have a seasoned chef. Both taste & presentation are worth the pricing ?I would definitely visit again if I'm going along the coast again

DO NOT STAY HERE!! They are cheap scammers! Was told when we can and cannot leave, the room and outside the room was infested with big spiders. Way overpriced! Got accused of stealing because they didn’t have enough pillows. Pool had spiders also! Very bad service. Would not recommend and will not be staying at this place ever again!

Very impressed by the transformation of this motel. It's now a very pretty little place to stay with a rustic wedding venue and walking trails in site, and the rooms are attractive, very neat and clean. The owners seemed lovely, and check in and out took about 40 seconds, it was totally painless. Sad that we were there on a Monday, so the attached Tandoori restaurant was closed. Nice and convenient to town and the beach without being right in the middle of it, will definitely come back. Price very good for the quality.

New ownership provides hope for improvement. Indoor pool and outdoor basketball were great for the kids. Convenient parking. A bit of a hike to downtown Bayfield but not too far. Hoping to stay again in 2 years and look forward to seeing updates. On site restaurant, in room coffee and small fridge.

For the price of the rooms and location near many beaches, it is at a good value. The reason for 3 stars is that the cleaning crew really needs to step up the work… this inn has the possibility to become one of the best, but instead is a newly renovated inn with the trail left from the old motel. Many areas in the pool / change room area which look very musty and old and unclean…Pros:-Good location-Close to beaches- Rooms are updated from old motel rooms- Pool- Sauna- Nice trailsCons:- Cleaning crew needs muchhh work- The inn in general needs to work on looking new and being better at covering up the ugly areas left from old motel- Some furniture is unstable and hard to open / creaky- Cars passing at night / near roadIn general for the Ashwood Inn I would say; it’s a good inn for the price, doesn’t have that disgusting motel feeling. It is ok 3 stars
