Wish I could give 0 stars to this location! Staff is rude and when using your tap to pay for gas, they automatically charge you $250 regardless of how much you put in your tank and then expect you to wait 7 days for it to be corrected! Then upon questioning the cashier about it, she was very condescending and rude, acting like I should have known this! Maybe post a sign on your pumps! Do not recommend this location at all! Go somewhere else to get your gas!!

Constantly have issues at multiple pumps when trying to pay at the pump at this location. Machines say incorrect pin more often than not but then my pin works inside immediately after without any issue. On one occasion I even had my card locked for “incorrect pin” and I had to visit the bank to change it because of this issue with the pumps. Inconvenient and annoying.
Staff is usually either dismissive or argumentative when I’ve tried to raise concern about the issue. This location is closer to home but after this just happened two weeks in a row plus add in the attitude received from staff at this weeks visit, I will now be frequenting the highway 7 location for my weekly fill ups for both cars and my motorcycle.

Engages in illegal price fixing together with all the gas stations in Carleton Place. 18 cents above going rate across Ottawa just before the labor day long weekend (2024).
Esso is owned by Exxonmobil and they bought out Pioneer, so that explains why there is no more competition in Carleton Place. The others play along because price fixing is profitable.

I used tap to pay for 20 dollars of gas. When I got home I noticed I was charged 250 dollars pre authorization! I called and got a less than enthusiastic or kind response that it would take 3-5 days to clear in my bank account…unacceptable. Upon posting on my local information feed many people with negative comments on this gas station even questioning their ethics and practices and poor service. My last visit for sure!

Not sure who is in tonight, but here she’s one of the shorter ones with a slight island accent and glasses. She has the personality of a wart, and even kept our card, and hopefully destroyed it, one night, the manager said it want in the store the next morning and it was most definitely left at the cash. It was one of those nights she was giving a hard time to me, for smiling I guess had to change cards three times, but it was the machine. . My biggest issue is the fact I think someone might be skimming cards on the cash closer to the doors. As an experiment I brought, in an unused brand new card, and….lo and behold, it kept canceling, then the person says “Do you have tap?”. At least don’t be lazy and move to the next cash. Anyway have reported to loss prevention, I’m just writing here to be an a#ss. Something weird if they won’t fix it,.

Pay at pumps never work. Staff is always rude. Used to come all the time as it's convenient and close, I now will purposely avoid, drive out of my way to NOT use this location. Even if it's 10 cents cheaper I'll avoid it.

Never understood why someone would write a review for a gas station until now.GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION.The staff are are just kind there and won't be helpful if there is a problem with the pump, and the managers are out-right rude.I often find that this location has small issues with the pump. Such as not being able to tell what gas you've selected as three of the pumps never light up or keep the numbers of what you've selected....This was not an issue until today at which point I was several liters in before I noticed how quickly the numbers had rose and that there was no way that was the price of regular.So, I put the nozzle away and go inside the pay off the Supreme or whatever the highest one is called as it clearly was not Regular.Get inside and let them know that it must have selected something else, and that I still had every intent to pay.She gets to manager to see if there is anything she can do, not that I asked, she was just trying to be helpful.The manager is a horrid person who says she will call the cops if I don't pay (which I already said I was going to and I had my wallet out waiting to pay inside at your register). I even told the Manager I was going to pay and I understood that accidents happen.I then simply advise that, since it is not lighting up or telling you what you've selected, that they put a sign on it saying something, and then I am berated for suggesting such a thing and that there was nothing wrong with the pump.Needless to say I will never set foot inside that gas station again, and I hope this provides at least enlightening for people to how they run this location.

Poor Customer Service ExperienceI recently contacted Esso - 324 Coleman St, Carleton Place, ON K7C 0B5 and was unfortunately met with an extremely disappointing level of service. Upon calling, the individual who answered was remarkably rude, curt, and lacked the necessary knowledge to assist me properly. It was evident from the conversation that they were not interested in addressing my concerns and instead seemed bothered by my inquiries.Moreover, the interaction ended abruptly and unprofessionally when the person abruptly hung up on me without any resolution to my issue. This behavior reflects poorly on the gas station's commitment to customer service and leaves much to be desired in terms of professionalism.As a customer seeking assistance or clarification, encountering such dismissive and impolite behavior was deeply disheartening. Customer service is a crucial aspect of any business, and unfortunately, my experience at ESSO failed to meet even the most basic standards of courtesy and helpfulness.I hope this feedback serves as an opportunity for ESSO to improve their customer service standards and ensure that future interactions with customers are more respectful, knowledgeable, and conducive to addressing concerns effectively.

This place makes me laugh, it's always 5-10c more expensive than any other gas station in CP. This morning 9.4 cents more than the station 60 seconds up the road.

Made the mistake of buying gas here. Always way more expensive than all the other stations in town. Won't be back.
