“Was very surprised to find out there's a bookstore so close to my partners cottage. Her family are avid readers and were happy to find out as well. I rushed to the store with a pre-teen looking to expand his horizons beyond the normal sci-fi fantasy series he has been reading for the last few years. When we arrived I was impressed with the layout and relatively large selection of books in all categories. I began searching for the classics I'm familiar with, Brave New World, 1984, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I realized quickly I could take all day looking so I requested help from the lady working. Explained the kid is a voracious reader and Im trying to expand his knowledge of literature. She immediately had a number of recommendations of all different genres he may enjoy. When i mentioned classics she pulled Animal Farm, 1984 and a few others from the shelves with ease. We didn't manage to find something this trip that piqued his interest but I'm definite with some time he will decide to return and find something with substance. I am sure to return myself next time I have a weekend to read.”
Barnes & Noble is proving that physical bookstores aren't going anywhere. The retailer just opened three new locations across Texas and South Carolina, marking another step in its comeback story. Barnes & Noble opened 57 stores in 2024 alone - more than it had opened in the entire decade from 2009 to 2019. The company isn't slowing down either, with plans to open more than 60 new stores in 2025 and a goal of reaching over 1,000 stores nationwide in the coming years.
