“A few weeks ago, not long after starting my near 2-hour drive home from Stratford, something under my car started dragging against the road. It continued to do so on and off, so I pulled over to see what was going on. I assumed it was something related to the patch job my mechanic had done on an exhaust rattle. I didn’t think I’d be able to drive all the way home if it kept dragging on the road.
I drove very slowly, hoping to make it to Mitchell so I could find a mechanic to help me. When I got there, I looked up the local mechanics, and whether it was the excellent ratings or the fact that the business was named after an actual person, my instincts told me to head to Ross Patton Mechanical.
I believe it was around 4 or 4:30 PM when I pulled up beside the shop. I approached Ross and explained my situation. He knelt down, took a look underneath the car, and then at first mentioned that the hoists were occupied. After a pause, he said, “Let me see if I can free something up.”
A few minutes later he came back, asked for my key, and long story short, had me safely back on the road in no time.
Ross seems to have fixed the exhaust rattle too, which may actually have been a heat shield issue, based on what my mechanic back home later found when he looked at it.
Whatever magic Ross kindly worked on my car, he wouldn’t accept payment from me. I’m so grateful for all he did that day.
