“Smashing IT! ???
Found this little gem in the heart of the Annex the other day, and I am very happy that I did.
I've been strolling through the city and visiting a lot of second-hand bookstores, and I must say I feel at one with Doug Miller's Books!
What I really love about the charm of the store is the easy layout and being able to access books based on what reading mood I happen to be in at that moment.
I also really like the fact that there's an emphasis on the classics and their front and center. Easy to locate and easy to find.
And get this, they have the old Hardy Boys Book Collection!
I read those back in grade school!
I just adore this book store and can't wait to delve into this magical bookstore again! ✌️”

“I did the international food tour with Jessica and she was amazing! She made the whole experience so fun and informative. It was a great way to learn more about Kensington market and the wonderful local restaurants and businesses that run there.”
“Such a great experience purchasing my Honeycomb Bravo throttle from your company. It seemed the item instantly was shipped and arrived
Across Canada in a mere 7 days. Highly recommend purchasing from this awesome company.”
“Great service, lovely staff, very helpful. They were able to get me a book on short notice that I could not get anywhere else, even during postal strike. Very grateful. Highly recommend.”
“An old school second-hand bookstore where you can find everything from Chomsky's greatest hits to Carlos Castaneda's ruminations on LSD - and a whole lot in between - Sellers & Newel also doubles as a tiny and unlikely, but also uber-hip nightclub featuring a rotating cast of local musicians/songwriters. A throw back to the coffee house days of the 60s, this place is an experience! Save yourself the cost of a trip to Greenwich Village and soak up the folksy sounds right in our own backyard.”
“A wonderful, hidden-away bookshop with detailed sections on diverse faiths and spirituality along with your typical sci-fi, fantasy, anthologies, and classical literature. Floor to ceiling packed with books but very orderly. Nice atmosphere and pleasant service.”
“A beautiful, full-of-character bookstore that I’ve loved since I moved into the neighbourhood and got the fifth Harry Potter book on release night. My nephew has been a THRILLED recipient of the book-a-month gift (iykyk - if you don’t know … ask). They are a beating heart of Mount Pleasant! They also have a sweet selection of books for adult readers to be tempted while tiny readers browse & pet Mabel. These people know books and know midtown, protect them at all costs!!!”
“Pandemonium is one of the best places in Toronto to buy new and used records from bands from all over the world and Canada. You can find your favourite band, and they even have a small selection of Latin and Brazilian music, including salsa and tango. There are also a variety of CDs and books. The place is nice and the service is excellent.”
“An absolutely unique and terrific bookstore! There’s definitely something for everyone here would highly recommend grabbing a coffee nearby and stopping here for some cool finds!”
“Beautiful small used bookshop on College with reasonable prices. Owners are polite and will make lovely conversation after getting to know your face a bit better. I can always count on Balfour to surprise me with a find that I didn’t know I needed!”
“My new favourite book store! The staff are so friendly and helpful and gave some excellent book recommendations. The customers in the shop were also super helpful. Very community feel and it was quite refreshing. I will definitely be back.”
“I’m currently learning Spanish and I’ve been getting in reading books in Spanish. Maria was so wonderful helping me find the perfect book to buy and helping me practice my Spanish!”
“Very decent used CD and bookstore on Dundas. With a sister shop on Roncevalles. Consistently good quality stock, quite well organized for shopping. Reasonably priced. Been going here for many years.”
“I've been going to Bakka-Phoenix since 1986, when it was just Bakka the Science Fiction Bookstore. Off and on, throughout the years, I've been in and found some great books. I've moved to BC. 25 years ago, but whenever I visit Toronto, I pop in and see what's new. Great store and friendly staff.”
“This bookstore is a dream!! It’s like a bookstore in a cozy mystery book! Great variety of books. This year I m gonna leave more space in my suitcase! Update: I bought more books and my little cute friend was there!!”

“I love this store. They carry a decent variety of books - all well organized. Especially great if your looking for local authors and also carry some signed copies.”
“If you love design, will love this store. It’s like half a bookstore and half home decor. They have a variety of other items too. I actually discovered this retailer from a Instagram account who was showing some of their items. I have been in twice since then and this is now where I get cool gifts for all my family and friends. Everything I have gotten from here has been adored by whoever I gave it to. I feel like I’m not sophisticated enough to understand more of their technical books, magazines and design aesthetic but I have found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and while I felt that way. They definitely make you feel like you are, which is so refreshing because the design world can be snooty. This is such a cool spot downtown and really they just have cool things that are unique and almost defy trend. If you go you will definitely become a more styled person, you can’t be around such beauty and style and not pick some of it up. Also the store itself like the building, is also just beautiful.”

“Smashing IT!
I have always loved Book City. There's something very intellectual about this space.
It's an amazing space to lose yourself in that favorite book.
They have an amazing selection of books to fulfill that reading need that whispers words on pages yet to be discovered.
The staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
Also, if you can't find what you're looking for, the staff will do a great job at making recommendations or placing an order for you.
Great location as well.
Take a stroll and pay Book City a visit. ✌️?✌️”
“We were team sago mini well before other additions. It’s simply amazing what they come up with! So creative. I couldn’t recommend any other app more for mama’s with a little ones! Not only are the apps fun and educational but the team behind the apps truly care.”

“Great bookstore with lots of variety. Not very often you find book stores anymore. Staff were friendly and able to guide my kids to books which they would enjoy. Great to support a local shop and have the “good ol days” vibe back!”
“My mother and I had a wonderful time looking around pre-covid, admiring the collection, and having long chats with the staff on a beautiful afternoon. They were helpful and just really friendly and accommodating to us. 5/5 and thank you for existing!”

“Excellent exposure and location. However, it always needed to be managed more innovatively to make it reach its full potential as an interfaith think-tank in one of north america’s major cities.”
“I love my local indie bookstore! I can browse to my heart’s content, and I know if I need anything all I have to do is ask. There’s a wonderfully curated collection of books and gifts, and even though this is a Tiny Type, I still find surprises.”
“Got a beautiful handmade, size-fitted amethyst ring from here and the owner is one of the kindest people!! I accidentally broke part of the ring and he fixed it for me at no cost. He was so reasonable, understanding, and friendly! I’ve recommended so many of my friends to come here for their jewellery. High quality gems, jewellery and customer service!”

“Glad Day Drag Brunch is fabulous. Selena Vyle gives it their all (which btw for 44yo, ho you is bendy!) and they makes everyone feel included.
sad to see when the book shop moves that drag brunch will not be going with it - so hoping there will be a drag brunch location too in the west end ?️??️⚧️ thank you selena and glad day!!!!”
“Absolutely favourite place in the city especially after they added the new cafe replacing Starbucks. Absolutely loved their decaf cappuccinos and matcha lattes! Would be great if they also stored vegan baked goodies. I could literally spend hours at indigo. Their staff are so friendly too! A book shop that has such an amazing collection, toys, cute goodies, wellness stuff and friendly people with a coffee shop - is there a place better than that?!
Thank you!”

“As a collector for over 50 years there was no other shop that I felt comfortable selling my Golden and Silver age books too.
The collection consisted of every Atlas, National/DC, and Marvel key issues from 1950 to 1968.
Many of the Milestone books like Fantastic Four #1, Amazing Fantasy #15, Showcase #4, and Hulk #1, I purchased directly from the owner Peter Dixon. A nice complete loop selling them back to him.
If you are in the market for buying or selling your comics or just looking for the next best new comic, this store has what you need.
I feel comfortable saying my experiences through the decades talking comics or pondering the universe with Peter make the Paradise Comics experience like home.
I do regret selling my first print Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, maybe one day I could buy it back - lol”
“I love this place and so do my wife and daughter. I have found their staff to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This modest but beautiful shop is a gem in our College Street neighbourhood. Highly recommended for items to make you feel and look better, for gifts and for a great vibe.”
