I've been shopping at this store for over 25 years under different brands and different independent owners. The newest owners are the worst. I've had conversations with a woman, who I take is probably the the owner of the store, and she was rude to me and she is rude to her staff. And it's not just the management who's rude. The other day I went to buy milk. Some big, burly guy was stocking the milk and I asked him if I could quickly grab a carton of milk and he turned to me and said no. You'll have to wait until I'm done in the rudest manner imaginable. The quality of the store has absolutely hit rock bottom. First, do not buy thier "fresh" produce because it is anything but. I bought broccoli today and there were black spots inside when I started cutting it up. The other day I bought peppers and within 1 day the skin started to wrinkle. The same can be said about the tomatoes. Don't get me going about the fruit. And that's just the start. Not to mention no shopping carts the last half dozen times I was there, empty shelves and 4 by 4 skids of stuff blocking the isles. Those are just the highlights of this week. I've started shopping elsewhere even though they are right across the street from me. My advice to the owners, sell the store. You're not cut out for this type of business. Compared to the previous owner, you're not even in the same league.

I've been coming here for years. A very convenient supermarket, fresh produce and meats. But the customer service has BECOME atrocious. I'm spending a lot of money and I'm at the checkout and they're starting to treat their customers life thieves and lairs. It's extremely stressful, uncalled for and rude.

I have been shopping at this store for many many years...I go there to pick up my supplies for Passover and Hanukah ( only store in the downtown to buy such items)Well to my schock and appalled...they no longer carry these items...shame shame shame. I tried to get some info as to why they have no items for Hanukah and all i got was attitude and no one knew what the hell i was talking about...yes even the store manager? ( who was some twenty something kid)...all i kept hearing was ...the store is under new management. I guess everyone hates Jews now!

Good stock and variety in the shop but I find it extremely overpriced. The autumn Chrysanthemums flowers were marked exactly double the price when compared to another store a few blocks down the Bloor st. Which were fuller and fresher. When I am in a rush and don't have time to visit the other place I buy a few essentials from here.

Prices at cashiers are different from sticker price in this shop. In general, they are triple the sticker price at other shops. Incompetent manager and staff, expired produce, shrinking size of everything from salad leaves to bags of chips. Will never go there again

A supermarket at a convenient location and with a decent selection. They have some very interesting snacks in particular.I like the atmosphere, the quality and variety of their products. Bakery is great, the cheese section is amazing, good and quality brands could match your drink in any event.

Let me tell you why CityMarket is the absolute worst grocery store. While I was at the CityMarket Independent grocery store at the Manulife Centre shopping for groceries today, I was being aggressively stalked and swarmed by folks who were making a strong effort to invade my personal space, including pushing me with their carts and refusing to move and give me space. I asked to speak to a manager to address these ongoing safety and security issues that I have complained about before, the employees lied and said that there was no manager on duty. Then I spoke to the security in the building and told them that the incident happened underneath all the cameras. They took no information, and advised me to call the police.Disgruntled, I went back to CityMarket to return the items I just purchased 15mins earlier and they refused to honour my receipt or refund. The manager somehow showed up and oddly enough, he admitted to following me out of the store to the second floor. Even the tub of icecream I have purchased has melted while I wait to speak to security. The staff at Independent City Market at the Manulife Building at 55 Bloor were very unhelpful, combative and subjected me to gaslighting by discounting my experiences, which I reminded them happened underneath the cameras.Side note, if they are going to blindly rob black customers, at least make an effort to hire Black people, I never see any in that store, I am not surprised. What shocked me is that after the horrible experience I had where my safety felt threatened, that Independent City Market absolutely refused to refund my money for purchases I had made 15mins prior. The security incident, my 3rd at that grocery store has now escalated to me filing a police report to protect myself from trauma and harm in their establishments.Shame on them.

I purchased a nicoise salad that was supposed good for 3 more days and the egg was literally moldy. With food prices this steep and pricing set for the Yorkville area, please do better.

I have been using the store for 10 years and this is my first time leaving a review. Your store needs to train cashiers. THE CASHIER DIDN'T SAY A THING. There was no greeting, and she didn't ask me if I need a bag. But she did all that to the next customer. She also gave the receipt with no words even if I said thank you. I feel ignored . This is customer service and it is not appropriate to show a disrespectful attitude toward a customer.

City Market in downtown Toronto offers a unique shopping experience with its uncommon layout. Always clean, though prices are somewhat inflated due to the location - typical for the downtown area. Despite that, it's a convenient option for local shopping with a flair that sets it apart.

We have been very satisfied customers for over 20 years and shop regularly at Bloor St Market also known as City Market. It is a Loblaws franchise independently owned by Maisie de Sousa who is ‘hands on’ and brings in very fresh produce, and many products that you do not see at a regular Loblaws store. The store has an exceptional bakery and cheese boutique and many unique items which are not available at other grocery stores. There are many competitively priced items and local produce particularly during the summer months. We are very grateful for the quality of produce and products and the superior customer service provided.

This is a Loblaws just by a different name - so that they can charge even higher prices than Loblaws. I’ve compared the same sandwiches and they are at least $0.50 more at this location. Price gouging even harder. Self serve constantly has issues with a scanning basic items somehow not in their system and staff are not very helpful. I’ve gotten tired of shopping here and look elsewhere for better prices with less hassle.

It happens that I visited this supermarket on 5 de Mayo and was pleasantly surprised by the festive atmosphere and delicious food offerings. One of the highlights of my visit was trying their empanadas, which were absolutely delicious! They had a variety of fillings to choose from, and I couldn't resist trying a few different kinds. They were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly crispy on the outside. In addition to the tasty empanadas, the store also had a great selection of Mexican potatoes chips and products, which made it easy to stock up on everything I needed for my own 5 de Mayo celebration at home.Overall, I highly recommend this it for anyone looking to celebrate 5 de Mayo or simply looking for delicious food and a fun shopping experience. The empanadas alone are worth the visit.
