Mjölk: A Curated Lifestyle Haven Celebrating Scandinavian and Japanese Design Established in 2009 by a husband-and-wife team, Mjölk is a lifestyle shop and gallery in Toronto's Junction neighbourhood, showcasing a carefully curated selection of functional, well-crafted, and timeless products. The store's inspiration stems from the beauty found in everyday tools and rituals. Mjölk's gallery exhibits work by artists and artisans from Scandinavia and Japan, and the owners have collaborated on exclusive product collections that explore the theme of daily ritual. The store's white Victorian building with a modern interior, designed by local architecture firm Studio Junction, creates a serene, gallery-like atmosphere for browsing. Customers describe Mjölk as a museum-like experience, with everything beautifully labelled and curated. The knowledgeable and friendly staff guide visitors through the unique, one-of-a-kind, and imported items, many of which exemplify the store's commitment to simplicity, functionality, and timeless design. While the prices are in the high-end tier, the products are universally praised as worth the investment. Mjölk is widely regarded as the best-curated design store in Toronto, offering an unparalleled selection of Scandinavian and Japanese-inspired home goods, furniture, and decor. The owners' dedication to their aesthetic and design principles make Mjölk a must-visit destination for design enthusiasts and those seeking a uplifting, informative, and serene shopping experience.

This is a beautifully crafted space, filled with lovely things. It is expensive, reasonably so for furniture and objects of this quality. I go there to browse like an art gallery and occasionally buy small things that are within my budget. It's part of the Junction's appeal for me and I hope it will endure.
Design fans fond of minimalism and Marie Kondo can add another M to their repertoire: Mjölk. Swedish for "milk"-and pronounced mi-yelk-this lifestyle shop and gallery is all about simple beauty. Housed in a Victorian building in the Junction neighborhood, Mjölk brings Scandinavian and Japanese artists and artisans under one roof, offering everything from a Shaker-style peg rack to a silver sugar bowl to a rust-colored Arne Jacobson sofa. In addition to showcasing noted names, John and Juli Baker, the husband-and-wife team behind the business, have funneled their expertise into locally produced design collaborations.
