Amazing place to stay in the beautiful village of Westport. Comfortable and relaxing. Our dog loved it too. Hosts are excellent, great service and breakfast. Definitely a destination place on the Rideau.

Blinding food and 1st class service - recommended. Pricing is good for the quality of food on offer. Some very tempting sweet treats for afters too. All topped off with good beer and great company. Will be going again.

I can't say enough good things about this place. The hospitality was out of this world. Snacks waiting when you arrive, a delicious baked good delivered to your door in the morning to enjoy at your leisure with an in-room coffee, and then an incredible breakfast on a lovely screened-in porch. Not to mention we brought our dog, who is a bit high energy, and they were wonderful with him (and he had a great time too). I highly recommend staying here.

I called to book a room but unfortunately they were booked for the dates I needed...however James and Elaine were lovely enough to recommend another B&B in town I might have some luck booking for the dates I needed.Thankfully I was able to book a room at the Water Wood B&B (in town for my brother's wedding so desperately needed a room), but I'll definitely try to book again with Black Dog Inn should I ever need a place to stay again. Thank you for your kind and caring help guys...not even a guest but I appreciate the service nonetheless! ?

We were welcomed at very short notice by the friendly host at this old worldly pub in a small village. Our room was lovely and immaculately clean with very comfortable beds, breakfast was superb, well cooked and good quality food. If you are looking for good accommodation in the area then this gem of a place is a must.

We love the inn. Clean rooms, friendly people, delicious food and dog friendly. Been here a few times, and every one of them was a great experience.

My husband and I took a last minute trip to Westport. There were no rooms at the hotel in town but it was suggested that we try a local B&B. Luckily there was one room left at the Black Dog Inn. We booked the room and then proceeded to attempt to secure a dinner reservation at one of Westport’s fine restaurants but alas they were booked solid. I called Elaine to get her advice on restaurants that may be available and she provided me with alternative suggestions. She also kindly offered to have James (co-host extraordinaire) bbq some steaks should we be unable to secure a reservation elsewhere! Luckily (not sure if Elaine and James pulled some strings) we got a call that the sold out dinner and show package suddenly became available! The Inn is perfectly located to walk anywhere in town which allowed both my husband and I to enjoy adult beverages at the dinner and show as it was a quick walk to and from the restaurant. The room we booked was the king sized bed room with a jacuzzi tub. Very well appointed, extremely clean and incredibly comfortable. A large TV sitting area, plenty of dressers and stylish decor. Not tired at all. Elaine anticipates all of a guest’s needs and supplies lovely soaps, makeup remover wipes, fluffy towels, coffee and teas, cream and milk and snacks. Delicious Balderson cheese and high end crackers, fresh fruit and other snacks were lovely. Before the show we enjoyed a glass of wine sitting in the Adirondack chairs at the fire pit while James regaled us with the very interesting history of Westport and the house that is now the Inn. When we opened our room door in the morning there were two delicious peach cobblers. Of note, each room has a coded lock for additional security. Elaine kindly adapted to my husband’s picky palate and made a huge and delicious cheese and veggie omelette. Fresh fruit and orange juice with nice extra touches elevated the meal to something one can expect from a fine dining establishment.Great hosts, great food, great room, great value. Would recommend to friends.

The Black Dog Inn is a fabulous find and wonderful place to stay in Westport. Seconds from the downtown Main Street and waterfront. Both James and Elaine are the best hosts I have ever met. Their kindness and hospitality is like no other. Elaine makes incredible home made breakfasts, absolutely delicious!! The rooms are lovely, extremely clean and very comfortable beds. I have had an extended stay here and going back in a few weeks. Whether travelling alone or together I would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking for a place to stay while visiting Beautiful Westport.

We had a wonderful stay at The Black Dog Inn. Elaine and James are both gracious and friendly hosts and we enjoyed meeting Laverne, Shirley and Roxy - who give the Inn its name. The breakfast was delicious and definitely plentiful! I was amazed at how quiet it is in Westport. We had gone for beers at the Westport Brewing Co and music and dinner at the Cove and walked the five minutes back to the Inn for a very good night’s sleep. A great staycation!

Elaine and James will make you feel like you are home. They are exceptional hosts running a quint inn in the lovely town of Westport. You’ll be greeted with a smile and sent to gorgeous well appointed rooms with snacks water tea coffee and surprise welcome fruit. Before a magnificent breakfast (we chose) eggs Benedict, Elaine brought over warm oatmeal with peaches for our pre-breakfast breakfast. They even offered to drive us to our dinner reservation. Perfectly centrally located in the heart of Westport you won’t regret staying at the welcoming Black Dog Inn.

We stayed at The Black Dog for three nights. Dave and Alli couldn't have been more welcoming or attentive hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, without being overwhelming. It's a lovely traditional pub with large and comfortable rooms with everything you need for your stay. Really comfy beds and we slept very well. The home cooked food was delicious and plentiful. If you're in the area, do visit.

Visiting Bristol for the NASCAR race. After walking our 2 dogs about 3 miles, we were on the hunt for donuts. I know, defeats the purpose. Lol. Stopped at the Barkery thinking it was a Bakery. To our surprise, it was, but dog treats. Any and every kind you could imagine. They even make doggy cakes. The nice owner was making gingerbread treats at the time and let us try them. That's right, everything is human consumable too. They also had pretty clothes, leashes, bowls, candles to help remove pet odor from your house, etc. If you have a spoiled 4 legged friend, this is a must go to place. We may not have gotten our treats, but the dogs definitely did.
