I recently visited the PetValu Roundhouse location in the afternoon to return a store-brand winter jacket for my dog that was too small. While there, I also hoped to find the same jacket in an extra-extra-large size that would fit my dog, but they didn’t have it in stock. I didn’t have the receipt but provided my phone number when asked. The employee claimed the purchase didn’t show up in their system and refused the return, citing store policy not to accept returns if the item isn’t in stock or wasn’t sold by their location.
Later that afternoon, I went to the Huron Church location to see if they had the size I needed. While they didn’t have it in stock either, they still processed the return without any issues. Throughout this entire experience, both in the store and on the phone with an employee named Aaliyah, I was most respectful and polite. When I called to respectfully express my disappointment, Aaliyah denied helping me earlier and refused to answer simple questions. Then, she hung up on me.
The experience at this location was unprofessional, and the inconsistency between stores is disappointing. I’d like to ask a store manager: Is it your policy to not accept returns on store-brand items if they aren’t sold or carried by a specific location?
Or was I treated unfairly?

I am constantly being asked to donate donate donate! This is exhausting, especially when prices continue to climb and people are struggling as is. Not to mention I feel like I'm buying a used car from a sleezy sales person whenever I enter the store. If a customer comes in for one item, the minimum wage workers who do NOT earn commission on sales should NOT be upselling me on items I do not need!
