She personally shines as an instructor! SIX stars, if that were possible. I am a retired university instructor and industry presenter so I know how the human brain learns and the whole ecosystem of what maximizes joy and success when people are learning. Education psych - exactly how to teach adults different kinds of skill. I've also taught art and other manual arts so I could assess that part of her skillset. So when I say Julie is amazing, I know exactly what I'm talking about. Plus, both hubby and I FELT so inspired by the experience, we went home and poured our souls into a tsunami of new paintings. It's been weeks and my creative brain is still popping. THAT is a truly great teacher!

Her vocal tones soothing and inspiring. Verbal content specific verbiage, very concrete for the implementation and giving the wide-angle context of why you press here and lean there. She must have reminded me of the basic physical actions a dozen times in the first hour! Just as patient as if she were explaining for the first time.
She began with two slow, careful demos, first time general concepts of what she's doing, 2nd time drilling into specific physical actions. Slow and careful. Then we started in and she was attentive without making me nervous by excessive 'hovering.' She reminded us (and it's one of my guiding principles of art) that our joy and the cleansing of stress comes from the process of the hands-on making, not just or even primarily the end product.

Julie and I did a special class for my husband and I a couple weeks ago. Wheel work. Worth every cent to both of us. Doing a wheel class was a lifelong dream for both of us, finally realized, and SO happy...”
