About Jenkins Estate

Jenkins Estate is a historic 68-acre area on Cooper Mountain, purchased in 1976 by the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District. The estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers visitors access to nearly two miles of trails, gardens, and scenic views of the Tualatin Valley and surrounding mountains. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk and feature a variety of natural and cultivated areas, including rose gardens, an educational garden, and open lawns perfect for picnics or playing fetch with dogs. Visitors can enjoy walking through wooded trails, exploring a pond, and visiting the Master Gardeners’ garden for learning. The estate also hosts community activities, a nature school, and camps run by THPRD. The site is family-friendly, with a turf playground and opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, frisbee, and Pokémon Go. The terrain is hilly, so good walking shoes are recommended. The estate’s buildings can be used for camps, retreats, and meetings. Many visitors find Jenkins Estate to be a peaceful and beautiful place to spend the day, especially in spring when rhododendrons and azaleas bloom. Overall, Jenkins Estate provides a lovely, accessible spot for outdoor recreation, community events, and enjoying nature’s beauty.
