While the alteration that was made to my jeans did not really work out for me, the owner was very gracious and made things right by restoring them to their original condition and refunding my money. So, I feel like I received great customer service.

They could be a "Better Alteration", however, 50% of the time they turn my repair away and direct me to another alteration service. They've even accepted the repair only to call two weeks later to tell me they couldn't fix it. And once had to dry clean $$$ my husband's carhart work pants because they couldn't stand the smell. Embarrassing.I'm wondering if they are going out of business and that's why they turn away customers. I am very hesitant to go back because seems every job is one that’s too much.…・・Helpful 0 Thanks 0

A note to brides: I had called and talked with them many times and many months before my wedding and was told they did not take appointments but were steadily on a 2-week turnaround time and made sure they knew it was for a wedding dress (no lace, no beading, relatively simple alterations like hemming and strap adjustments). I even called 3 days before I came in and was reassured the same thing: we can do your alterations with a 2 week turnaround no problem. I showed up today and was turned away due to schedule/they don’t do formal wear, and was put in a very hectic situation of trying to find a backup alterations spot just 5 weeks before my wedding (I had been told coming in 4 weeks ahead of my wedding was just fine). Thankfully another spot in town could accommodate, but I’d recommend brides look elsewhere for any alterations to avoid a panic, even if they reassure you over the phone that they can accommodate whatever you need.Service: Dress alterations

turned away a zipper repair and said they didn’t have time…? confusing for a no appointments necessary establishment. they didn’t even ask how long i’d be willing to wait or amount willing to pay.

I brought in a floor-length, simple (all-black, no embellishments, one length all around, non-chiffon material, etc.) bridesmaid dress for a potential hemming and was quoted $140+.Their website states the base price for a women's dress hemming as $20+, a "formal wear" hemming as $35+, and a "gown hem" (under the formal wear & suiting category) as $45+. My dress is definitively not a gown, but even if it was, there is still a $100 price difference in the listed online prices vs. actual quoted cost. I inquired about the price difference and was told I was likely not looking at the "formal" price chart, which is inaccurate. Therefore, I took my dress elsewhere for a $45 hem instead.

Best alterations shop I have been to and I get uniforms for work altered all the time! I've been to several in Central Oregon and A Better Alteration is the best alteration place around. The staff is so helpful and they are usually (workload depending) VERY fast. They also understand that life happens and try to work with you if you are in a pinch. I would highly recommend A Better Alteration!

Took items for alterations and it took an excessive amount of time to complete at an exorbitant price. I know that getting alterations done in Bend is difficult, but don't waste your time and money on this place! Terrible Place!!

While staying in Bend for a month, I had a pair of running tights repaired where the ankle zipper had failed. Thought all was well, but after we moved on to Hood River, the zipper blew again. Called the shop and left a message as to what had happened. A couple of business days later, I received a call, asking for me to return the tights via mail and they would do a full replacement of the zipper this time.Package was received on June 29. Today is July 6, AND after a long weekend. Just got a call that they have made the repair AND they are sending me $ to pay for the shipping I incurred. Totally didn’t expect that. This is truly above and beyond in any market, but especially today. Love this place and would definitely use them again whenever we return to Bend.

A Better Alteration does a good job of the job at hand; however, my last job for them, overall, was not satisfactory. I had several long-sleeve cotton tees that the sleeves needed hemming. The cost was $20 per shirt, which I feel is exorbitant. In the past, I have paid $10 for this service, so I was shocked when they quoted me $20. Nevertheless, I needed the job done, so I paid their fee. They, as usual, did a good, neat, professional job on hemming the shirt sleeves. However, I had brought the clean shirts into them in a plastic bag, with all of the shirts neatly folded. When I picked them up after the hemming, they were all just thrown together in the same bag, unfolded, and consequently, came out severely wrinkled. I hung them all up, and and several days later, they are still very wrinkled. I wil have to wash them all again to get the wrinkles out. I expected better treatment of my shirts. I expected them to be returned to me folded neatly, and they weren't. So, overall, even tho the job itself was satisfactory, the cost and the unfolded, wrinkled condition of my shirts on return made this particular job unsatisfactory. I have to say, I have used A Better Alteration many times before over the past several years, and have never had a complaint as to cost or condition of my clothing on pickup, but they fell very short of expectation this time around.
