“The staff here is always super sweet - The last time I visited, the person at the register overheard my friend and I talking about Quagsire. They asked if we were fans and went to the back to bring out a Quagsire plush that wasn’t on display yet. This made my day and I really appreciate the staff here always going the extra mile :D cutest selection of trinkets and collectibles eva!!”

“Adorable store with lots of hidden treasures! We have purchased from here many times and love each item that we’ve gotten. Owner is also very kind and the workers have always been super understanding of my young children when they look through the items (the mess they typically make).
For those with young kiddos, there are no public restrooms here (staff said there was a coffee shop down the street).., so be sure to have your kids go before going to the store! I made the mistake of not making them go, and had to leave 5 minutes after entering the store bc my kiddo had to go. ??♀️. Sadly we didn’t get to do much shopping there that day.”

“A little bit of everything. There's books, comics, dvds, bluray, vhs, video games from atari to now, action figures, dolls, retro McDonald's toys, pokemon cards, movie trading cards- they had pee-wee Herman trading cards!

“We love Hammer & Jacks! We adore Jillian. She has been a huge part of our lives ever since she welcomed us in for a new parent support group back in 2018. Not only was her vision of becoming a community hub and staple something that I could get behind as a FTM but over the years all of her support in helping to get my littles through their developmental milestones with thoughtful toy and activity recommendations have been invaluable!She also was LIFESAVER during the pandemic, doing toy and balloon deliveries and truly bringing love and light into our home. “We had my 7 year olds birthday here and highly recommend it! It’s set up so nicely and they had plates, napkins, and utensils all set up for us. The kids had a great time building Lego cars of race on the large car ramp and loved making their mini fig to take home. Everyone was super helpful. We let our kiddos do some shopping after and were so happy about the legos they found there. Highly recommend ??”

His son, Ben, installed everything in a few days and was able to integrate it with an existing patio so the kids can access it from multiple directions. “Beanstalk has some frustratingly limited hours, making it difficult to patronize on the regular (especially during the work week!), but when you do manage to get in the door, there's some fantastic treasures to be found here. Although it is primarily a consignment children's clothing store, you'll also find no shortage of wonderful, analog toys to plant the seeds of imagination in your little ones, in the hope that they'll sprout into clever, intelligent, fully-functioning, not-screen-addicted adults! This must be a conscious choice, because I could find nary an electronic device anywhere in the shop! Big kudos from me on that point alone! As for the clothing, let's just say, you're spoilt for choice. While some of the items are a little on the pricier side than I would like for a consignment shop, the quality of the clothing here is impeccable: clean, well-organized, and a healthy variety of sizes and styles. Everything you could need for any age, from newborn and toddler, up through the early grade school years: shirts, pants, dresses, hats, coats, shoes (TONS of shoes!), costumes, and all sorts of accessories! There's also a small selection of baby stuff in the back, including cribs, swings, and a host of different devices that I have no clue as to their function, but will assuredly be learning about them in the coming months (my wife is due next month)! In the last year, I have come to learn that shopping for a new child sucks, mostly because there is a dearth of places that have any quantity of clothing and accessories, outside of the big box stores, which I would prefer not to frequent, if possible. Thankfully, Beanstalk is here to pick up the slack, but you DO have to make an effort to get here during operating hours, particularly if you work during the week: Saturday (from 10am to 5pm) is your only real available option.”
“As a bookworm hailing from the UK, stepping into a Barnes & Noble during my American visit was an experience I'd anticipated. While I ultimately didn't make a purchase, the visit itself was a delightful immersion into a different kind of bookstore culture.
The first thing that struck me was the sheer scale. Compared to many of our high street bookshops, Barnes & Noble felt expansive, with broad aisles and towering shelves that seemed to stretch into the literary heavens. The layout was intuitive, with clear signage guiding me through genres, and dedicated sections for new releases and bestsellers were prominently displayed, making it easy to see what was currently capturing American readers' attention.
What truly set it apart for me was the atmosphere. It wasn't just a place to buy books; it felt like a community hub. The comfortable seating areas, complete with armchairs and small tables, invited lingering. The integrated Starbucks café, a common feature I’ve heard about but rarely encountered in UK bookstores, added to this sense of a welcoming retreat. People were genuinely settling in, reading, working, or quietly chatting over coffee – a far cry from the often hurried pace of UK retail.
I spent a good hour just Browse, admiring the vast selection, and appreciating the unhurried vibe. The children's section was particularly impressive, vibrant and engaging, with plenty of space for little ones to explore. While I left empty-handed, my decision was more about luggage constraints for my flight back to the UK than a lack of tempting titles. The visit was a pleasant cultural observation, showcasing a relaxed, inviting approach to bookselling that felt uniquely American. It was a worthwhile pilgrimage, even without a new book to show for it.”
