After a restless night with him, I brought him to see Dr. Alex first thing in the morning. Having had five dogs over the last 20 years, Dr. Alex is the only veterinarian I trust implicitly.

“After nearly 10 years of trusting Megan with my animals, I never imagined I would be writing this review.

I want to be very clear that this review is specifically about my recent experiences with Megan and not the rest of the staff at Claws & Paws. The staff members I have interacted with have always been wonderful. During my dog's most recent visit, Megan was unavailable, and he was treated incredibly well by the staff and the veterinarian who saw him. I unfortunately did not get to meet that veterinarian personally, but based on the care my dog received, I was extremely appreciative.

My concerns are with how Megan handled a recent situation involving foster puppies and illness in my home.

I care deeply about rescue work, and I respect anyone willing to dedicate their time and resources to helping animals. But as a pet owner, I also need to be able to trust that my veterinarian will put veterinary care, disease prevention, cleanliness, communication, and the safety of the animals first.

Throughout this situation, I repeatedly reached out with concerns and questions about the health and safety of my own animals and the puppies. I expected guidance from someone I had trusted as my veterinarian for nearly a decade. Instead, I felt that my concerns were minimized or went unanswered.

The final response I received focused heavily on defending where the puppies could or could not have contracted Giardia and on the circumstances surrounding my taking them in. What I needed from my veterinarian was not an argument over blame. I needed guidance about protecting the animals in my home, sanitation, exposure risks, and what steps needed to be taken next.

That experience fundamentally changed the level of trust I have in Megan as a veterinarian.

What concerns me most is that, from my perspective and based on the communication I received, there seemed to be more emphasis on defending herself and the rescue situation than addressing the safety concerns I was bringing to her as a longtime client and pet owner. Whether or not that was her intention, that is how the interaction came across to me, and it was extremely disappointing after nearly 10 years.

I have the messages from these conversations and am comfortable standing behind what I have written here.

I genuinely wish Megan and the rescue success because animals desperately need people willing to help them. But my animals are my family, and their health and safety have to come first. I need a veterinarian I can trust to take my concerns seriously, communicate clearly during possible infectious-disease situations, and provide veterinary guidance even when the circumstances are uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, after almost a decade, I no longer have that trust with Megan and will be taking my animals elsewhere.

Again, this review is not intended to reflect negatively on the other veterinarian or the staff at Claws & Paws. My experiences with them have been positive, and I am genuinely grateful for the care they have provided my animals.”

“I absolutely LOVE Mt. Hood pet medical! We have all 3 of our pets there (2 dogs 1 cat) and we thought our cat had a broken paw. Called them and they got us in next day, and to our relief, it was only an infection in his foot!”

“We are first time horse owners so this experience was crucial. During night checks we realized that one of our horses had somehow(still a mystery) sliced all along the back of his sheath open. We called around 9pm and got ahold of someone immediately, they said the on-call vet would call us back shortly and she did!

“I had a really great experience with Dr. Hansen at the Animal Dermatology Clinic and wanted to share. Even though my pet was originally being seen in a different department, Dr. Hansen took the time to step in and give a thorough exam without rushing.

He showed so much patience, offered thoughtful opinions, and communicated everything clearly. You can ask him anything, and he genuinely takes the time to explain and make sure you feel comfortable. He brings a fresh perspective while still being incredibly knowledgeable and attentive.

He’s also very kind and gentle with the animals, which made a big difference for us. We went in today for a recheck on Koda’s ears, and everything went smoothly.

I also want to recognize Juli, who is a fantastic and knowledgeable assistant. She does an excellent job coordinating care, takes a thorough history, and clearly truly cares about each patient. Her communication is clear, and she sets expectations really well, which made the entire visit feel organized and stress-free.

“We had a wonderful experience here. We had only brought our dog into this vet 1x in the past 5ish yesrs and while we were making end of life decisions for our dog they were able to get us in same day for an appointment even though we weren’t regular clients. They were so kind and accommodating to our family with young children and made us feel like we were their top priority, answering questions via phone and walking us though the procedure. They even send us a sympathy card after we made the decision to put our dog down. We will be using Beavercreek Animal Clinic for all our animals in the future ❤”

“This specialist came highly recommended to me through a facebook group for dogs with IBD. My little angel Lana had immune-mediated IBD (irritable bowel disease), PLE (protein losing enteropathy)/intestinal lymphangiectasia, iatrogenic Cushings syndrome, and frequent secondary infections with UTIs. She was an extremely complicated case when it comes to internal medicine and I couldn't ask for better treatment than she received from Dr. Klaser and Jennifer Jones - they were extraordinary to work with, very compassionate and understanding, and gave us an extra year with our baby girl. Note: the prices for an initial consultation and appointments are much higher than a regular vet, but worth every penny - rather than seeing a doctor for 5 min, the specialists here really sit down with you for a long time to get a robust patient history so that they can deliver the best treatment plan possible. I never felt like appointments were rushed at Sunstone. Lana had actually gone septic 2 years ago after going to 3 different vets and not getting properly diagnosed, and I felt like those vets never truly listened to us. I would highly recommend Sunstone to anyone whose dog is having lots of stomach/digestive problems, particularly when regular vet offices haven't resulted in any diagnosis or positive improvement. Managing IBD and PLE in a beloved family member is really challenging and an emotional rollercoaster, and I felt Dr. Klaser, Jennifer Jones, and the whole Sunstone team really supported us at every step of the way for my dog Lana. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you again!”

They have helped with major issues requiring multiple visits as well as preventative puppy checks with compassion and expertise. “Years ago I managed a veterinary hospital, so I notice all the details - cleanliness, customer service, waiting time, kindness of staff etc. Dogwood surpassed my expectations in every aspect and especially the care and treatment of Nube. Knowing he’s not mine permanently (yet) Dr. Hughs provided just the right amount of care, with options for further tests depending on whether I ended up keeping him. The bill was completely reasonable given the exam and the three medications I received for him. “This is the only place I have ever taken my dog to the veterinarian where she wasn’t nervous or afraid. The Dr. and staff made her feel so loved and they let me stay in the room with her to comfort her and keep her calm while they took blood from her. She actually left wagging and happy, the Dr. was very thorough in her examination which I really appreciated too. They went out of their way to care for our doggy and us and make sure that she was given every opportunity to get well. We are so happy to have Her as our dogs veterinary , I highly recommend them!”

“Let me start by saying thank you to Dr.. Durphey; I really appreciate your kindness and patience to listen to everything I had to say, it's incredible how many people there are that will not take time to listen to people thoroughly. I have a 10 year old Husky named Kaya and I went in there with the original concern of a fungal infection that is recurring but not serious and I was seeing a stringy fibrous material in my dog's stool and I kept thinking it was worms but something told me I need to get a professional opinion because I certainly don't want to treat my dog for something she doesn't have. And I'm glad I did because that's exactly what I would have done, I got the results back and she's all clear except she has some sort of yeast buildup in her stomach which I wasn't aware that you could even get yeast infection in a dogs stomach. She would always eat grass because she had an upset tummy and scoot sometimes because her stools were soft and the gland would not get expressed so Doug Lewis took wonderful care of us, I did not have much money but they guided me to some alternatives and payment plans that I got approved for even with not so great credit, so don't let that hold you back from trying! These people are wonderful and they will do everything they can to help get your costs covered. Thank you to everyone who works there and for being so kind and compassionate, I'll be back!”

“We take our cats here for everything from nail trims to getting shots updated. Only complaint is ever since the main Vet retired its a rotating roster of Vets. So the techs are the only ones to get familiar with our animal's and there's quite a few of them. We have gotten one Vet who we thought he was unnecessarily rough & his recommended treatment for stress in one of our cats was to put on Gabapetin daily for life. ( its highly addictive in humans, not sure abt animals. And we dont want our guy drugged up everyday, totally out of it) The front desk lady's are great, always can rely on them to be the same faces & remember us. And the techs have all been super sweet & great with our animals. The guy who trims our cats nails is Amazing ! He always remembers us, has a way with the animals, & makes something thats usually traumatizing for our guys, super fast, & uneventful. And that makes things si much easier on us & our 3 cats. The people who work here really care & do their best to make sure you know all options, procedures & prices before starting anything. Only change id like to see, is to have Vet Staff consistent so we get to know them , like the rest of staff.”

“My dog Doogan has been going to them for the last 4 years. They've always been wonderful, well priced, and we were never left waiting in the lobby for very long at all which was amazing. He was hit by a car and had to go to an emergency vet a week ago and they have been doing bandage changes every 2 days for me since then and they are wonderful with Doogan. I am so glad that I have them through this trying time. I trust them completely with my baby and I stay in there with him during the bandage changes because it calms him and makes him feel better. They've always said, come on in. Some other vets will not let you go in the room for anything and they have always let me come in. I appreciate that so much!. I highly recommend them!”
