Market of Choice Franklin is a grocery store on Franklin Boulevard near the University of Oregon. It is the smallest of the local locations and features a broad selection of fresh produce, cheese, coffee, tea, bulk foods, meats, and seafood from skilled butchers and fishmongers. It carries many brands local to Oregon and has a phenomenal selection of regional wine and beer. The store is more than a supermarket, with a kitchen, grill, sushi bar, and gourmet ready-to-eat meals, including fresh pizza from a woodstone hearth oven. Its bakery offers fresh cakes, pastries, and baked goods described as to die for. The store is clean, well-planned out, wheelchair friendly, and visible from the boulevard. However, the parking lot is limited, a nightmare, and sometimes hard to get in and out of. Prices are noted to be a hit over the top for the average consumer, costly for regular citizens, and carry a markup on some products. The distribution system can lead to short expiration dates on items like milk. Employees are described as just okay. It is seen as a local version of Whole Foods with a premium service deli and competitive pricing elsewhere, but without an extensive rewards program.
